  1. I don't think the people you meet in central ChCh on a Friday night are the sort of people you would normally want to meet
  2. Perhaps a get-together in the hotel bar, or conference room, might mean more can attend? To arrive in ChCh then have to find Dux de Lux and work out how to get there might be a bit much.
  3. We don't know when it is going to start at this point. We need a quorum so all exec members attending need to tell us their arrival times (or I will email Erica and find out) I assure you, the exec meeting will be short! Perhaps we all need to hang out at the hotel, it would be easier, plus Friday night is a good time to catch up with people you haven't seen for 12 months.
  4. Sounds good. Is this before, or after, we register? Is there anywhere we can all hang out at the venue that night? A common room?
  5. All previous Minutes etc will be taken as read. No Remits this year No matters arising as far as I know. Grant has been looking up correct speedy procedure.
  6. I'm at work and we have Elvis singing 8)
  7. Good to hear they turned up. It is exciting isn't it? Wok if I am as old as the one I feel then I have problems since Grant turns 60 this year  I am sure there will be plenty of fish to see. We also hope to make it a quick AGM as well so more time for the fun stuff! :bounce:
  8. I would disagree with Moya on her point 3. I dig the siphon down as far into the gravel as it will go to make sure I suck up all the muck. I don't do this around the plant roots though. There, I hold the siphon just above the gravel to pick up the surface debris. Test kits are handy when things go wrong as the first thing you will be asked is what are your pH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels. 10 neons may be too many depending on the size of the tank. Not sure they are actually the best to cycle with as they are not very hardy these days but fingers crossed they will keep well. You may start having problems from days 7 - 10 as ammonia etc levels start to rise. A test kit will help you decide when to do a water change to keep the toxins at acceptable, non harmful levels until the filter bacteria grow enough.

It is free Joe. You have to log in to the link bdspider gave you, and register. Ask mum and dad first. If you still get stuck I will come and show you.
  12. We had Joe (aged 12) with us on a club trip to lfs in ChCh and none of them asked his age when he was buying fish. Perhaps they assumed one of us was his parent :-?
  13. We are not allowed to import those shrimps because of biosecurity. We do have a cold water native species but it is not colourful like the red and striped ones.
  14. I found this... http://thegab.org/Illness-and-Treatment ... .html#Fuzz Of course, we don't have medicated food here and eryhtromycin and tetracyclines are prescription drugs only but it might be a start for you to read.

  16. I am sure there must be a financial FNZAS member in here is close enough to come and count them for you then sign the form.

    Hi from Timaru

Actually, setting up and maintaining a large tank is easier than a small one. If something starts to go wrong in a big tank you have time to notice and adjust things to correct it before anything too terrible occurs. With small tanks the fish can be dead before you realise something is wrong If you want hardy, I would suggest egg layers like danios, rasboras and tetras. Most of these are schooling fish though and need to be in a group of 6 or more. 60L is not very big so you will be limited in your choice. I would suggest cherry barbs, with corys on the bottom.

Why aren't you at school Joe? You can't upload photos from your computer. They must be online on a site that allows sharing, like Photobucket.
  19. I hear a lot of people who watched in 3D got motionsick in some of the scenes. Anyone here have that problem?
  20. Do you like the look of a shoal of smaller fish or one or two large ones?
  21. The Mysterons took over bodies and Captain Scarlett had to fight them! I can't compare any of these to Avatar as I have not seen it.
  22. As another bottom dweller? Is there just the 2 pictus so far or do you have other middle and top swimmers?

    Hi from Timaru

Welcome to the fishroom. 60L is not very big so you need to keep to the small species. Have you considered whether to get live bearers or egg layers? If you choose live bearers (guppies, platies, etc) you will quickly be over-run with fry.
