alan you are a well knowen breeder so all shops would by of you with out thinking twice, yes years ago thats what alot of shops did but now with eftpos you dont have the cash in the till as much as before because most people use eftpos (well in my shop they do) we do pay cash for fish but not all the time.

as a rule shops buy of people that are gst reg, as we can claim it back, if you breed the fish and they are of good size and look good they will buy but as alan said never more than half price , one because they will need meds just in case. and 2nd because of gst. breeding fish is a hobbie very few people make good money on breeding fish. look at my golden black eye plecos i am only selling them for $20 and they cost more than that to raise them, im doing it for the fun of it.

FINGERS CROSSED IT DOES they should breed in 4-6 weeks if they are happy so next time you will have more of an idea of what to do, even the best fish breeders loss babie fish so dont be to hard on yourself

they are so cute when they hatch and will grow so fast you will forget how small they are now.

look at it this way if you by cheap cheap you get cheap cheap, they use 2nd hand glass so for starters your tank isnt as strong and you could have scatchers on it , also you have to no how to make a good tank, i have watched my father put them together and could do it but then it wouldnt be as good as him because he has been doing it since adam was a boy, in other words only buy a tank that is mad by someone that knows what they are doing! remember its only silicon that holds most of the tank! and the tank is the most importent part because 4ft of water on your floor is a lot!!!!!

you can look as much as you like i had a light on mine, and i had my hands in the tank lots. the eggs are not sticky like most catfish so they will move round your tank so keep and eye out for eggs.

great to hear they are fun to breed and they breed again after 4-6weeks. but dont give up my first lot went really well the 2nd was the best and the 3rd i had a young girl and she did well to so yours sould do well. if you need any tips about raising them give me a call at work im there tomorrow and most of next week kim - pupuke aquarium ph 09 4806846

they are fine with it as long as you dont over do it. i find it can help them if you put it in as it stops the eggs dieing.

have you tried aussie? some of the big shops over there might help you out, i can have a look for some phone numbers of the good shops over there that no me and might help you out, you could try the shop in manly he is good i cant remember the name of the shop but if you look in the phone book on line it should say manly, sydney . he is just a fish shop like my shop and he carries odd things as well. it might be worth a go.

if you have got them to breed once you should get them to breed again you will find you will have more babies next time

i find they only live a year sometimes if your luck 18months from the size you buy them in the shops i sell my fighters for $13 each and crown tails are round $18-19

we still have it and sell it!! and until i get told in writing then i will keep selling it! one of my suppliers sells it but the ones down south cant sell it to me they got letters saying they cant. i dont think they can ban it like some other plants but i think they can stop suppliers from selling it.

no i have found that they are no good for b/n as the food goes off quickly! as for the little knobs alan when you buy the trap you get a bit that goes on the bottom of the trap most people put the knobs facing the bottom of the breeding box, but i find if you put it the other way no babies can get out of the trap!

if you can change breeding nets get the box plastic ones with air vents in the side, you have a bottom bit of plastic make sure you put the little nobs on each side pointing up that way the babies cant get out or other fish cant eat them, the babies can get sucked through by other fish wanting a nice meal. those net ones also hold alot of food and dont clean up to well.

fins if you dont add water to your tank before you set it up then the peat will not float , :lol: i mean you will have sand or gravel on top of it to keep it down. :roll: so you dont need to boil it,
