they have had a few problems with them, yes ehiems are great i have one that is 30yrs old and still goes, but i think the older modles of the ehiem are better than the newer ones, as for the v/a well i have had one for 6yrs now and i have put them on most my tanks and even my dad who was a true ehiem lover uses them he has over 30 of them the only problem we have come across is the taps and they are $6.90-$8.9 pair, every few years.

look at the fluval head and take the impellor cover off if you see a light bolb shape indent in your filter where your impellor sits and water flow goes you have the updated modle if you dont all i can say is junk junk junk, i dont like fluvals but thats my opinion, as for your eheim just phone warren from brooklands and ask him how to fix it he should help you. vai aqua's are great about the best out there at the moment.

most of the time you can tell if your fish are sick but it learning what they have that is the key.

what is your temp? and signs of the sick fish remember you can say if you are feeling sick but fish show there sickness.

what is your ph? what is your temp? do you have any ammonia at all? you said you had spots round the f/guppy was it white spot? have you sprayed any sprays?, used any cleaning products? put any new fish in just before they died? why did you feel the need o do water changes? i have found the only time you should do a water change other than when it is needed is when you over dose with meds. have you used any meds? melefix works well in most things and if you need to mix other meds you can thats why i like it. but it doesnt work on white spot!

gobys like to have friends , they do better with more than less of them, you could put more loaches in. do you go to the north shore fish club? you should go have a look they have an auction that you can buy fish and plants and in april they are doing a behind the scenes tour of Kelly Tarltons (all going well) . they meet this tuesday at the sunnynook hall good luck with your tank!!

if its red on the tips thats a good thing, means your water is good, you plant is happy because that is how they flower, to me that sounds like what your is doing because the red cabomba is very hard to get and grow
