  1. Apparently wellington zoo has imported green iguanas,as the powers that be have cleared them for importation, to containment facility ONLY. allong with *Scheltopusik (Ophisaurus (or Pseudopus) apodus) or european legless lizard. lace monitors. and a couple of other species ,i forget wich..... About time they got off there asses and got the ball rolling for the zoos to import.....be interesting to know who payed for the invironmental impact report and health standard....cant know :dunno:
  2. its a pity they pay peanuts...would be good for all you youngins out there.....so long as you dont smoke weed, pop disco biscuits or dabble with the glass barbecue
  3. could do alot with that, bit small for adults but....just thinking ahead.... could extend though.
  4. fast n cheep is good....slow n expensive...not so good...also helps if fish breed like rabbits!

  11. all you breeders out there think twice about supplying any animates branches,in there infinate wisdom they had coastal beardies at 37deg with no water!some bright spark at head office was told that at this time of year, when kept outside, they need no food or water as they are brumating.true but the really stupid thing they did was put this info together with inland beardie inside care sheet and came up with 37deg no food or water.this info is made protocol and passed down to all branches hey presto cooked beardies. some one in head office should be fired :an!gry i guess thats what happens when you have a corporation involved with live stock.
  12. so if the questons been asked on open forum,i will post the answer posted on pm.....yeah ,naaaaaaa most of them were many years ago. n asfore the rest...people dont bother offering them these days as they know im not interested. 8)

  14. not at all, just telling it like it is
  15. not at all,if you can track them down and keep under the radar(dont tell or sell) you should be fine. as far as i can tell out of sight is out of mind for bio security.they are only interested if somone trys to commercialise something not onTHE LIST.....call me jaded...there offical line is they are woried about disease risk(new organisim)...they are well aware of smuggled animals, yet are too busy to organise a health standard or environmental inpact report for tropical species so they can keep tabs on disease risk and eliminate smuggling....easyer for them to ignore the problem. most smuggled animals carry the most disease risk...the question is is it worth the headach n stress? personaly not for me.... :digH:
  16. niiiiice, cant argue with 100 or so million years of evolution, baring ice age and change being the only constant :slfg:

  18. NAAAA stick your exams...your OBVIOUSLY one of these university types who bases his or her knowlege on regurgitated dogma or data produced by someone else....if you have never owned a bearded dragon why woud you state (brumation is a survival instinct ,and stressfull for the reptile) hope yor boxies are deep(literaly) in hibernation now! e.c.t is the world flat! does the sun revolve around earth! new ideas come from OBSERVATION ,TIME AND INTUITION....then come the scientists to prove the idea.back the bus up kid.....i got 50 or so waterdragons lying around at the moment, from 3 months to 8year olds, i will put up10 or so3m/olds for an experiment (if i agree with the template) you up for it! or are you too busy with your "LEARNING" :sml1:

  20. OOOOOK,if thats the case why will an inland beardie housed inside with the same artifical summer conditions over winter stop feeding n grow torpid regardless of heat, food n photocycle? Why will a coastal beardie bury itself in the middle of summer when kept inside? why will a male waterdragon thats been kept inside under turbo heat from hatchling to 2 year old still have low fertility at 7 years old ? .why will a male waterdragon thats been kept outside from day one have almost 100% fertility and be 30% larger than the former dragon despite having half the food and heat? after 30 or so years of keeping reptiles i have my own answers, what are yours? Answer for the dragons -> Obviously its ideal to keep reptiles outside, we can only replicate so much with the use of D3 bulbs so natural sunlight is better for their bodies. However we cannot say thats why they are bigger and more fertile, you dont have a large enough test group to draw those conclusions. There may be documented evidence of this direct link but im not going to research it. We could say that yes there is a direct link or it could be that one water dragon you own, or a coincident that the inside grown in smaller? maybe your tank is to small, maybe the temps/diet is incorrect. YEEEEA NAAAAA! the dragon was moved outside at 2 years old once i got it.huge enclosure, same diet ,same conditions.what about the first 2 questions?
