  1. no substitute for sunlight n no broadband for photos
  2. funny that! iv got 4 month olds,16 month olds,3 year olds , 5 year olds n 8 year olds all doing it.... outside but.
  3. they did when i was there last there.(about 8 months ago) no uv geting through that plastic membrane.
  4. while your on the phone ask why no uv for the beardies, bluies, aligators n saltie crocks as well :digH:
  5. just for the record. If ya gona feed out mice, less is more!! i fed out 7 adultwild mice (fresh caught in traps) over a season, over an above normal feed n me male was so FAAAAT afterwards,I had to starve him out for half the next season! P.S starve = half share diet..... :digH:
  6. thats entirely up to you,the only upside of keeping them indoors is you get to control the weather, the down side is it proberbly wont be cold enough with all the lights n and heatin turned off inside yet.
  7. sounds good, theres no hurry though, you could hold out till july, august. depends on the inside temp of the room there in. maby replace the sand with soil so they have somthing do dig into n chuck in a piece of ply, plastic lid or whatever so they have somthin to dig under.the size sounds about right for 4 yearold male so proberbly not grown to fast.
  8. far as i know your 4 yr olds havent been outside ever. a bit tricky,as i heard of some adult old wdragons (ex ak zoo ) that have never been brumated (under heat all year round) . that died over winter when finaly brumated outside.... i think your on the right track for this winter BUT NO FOOD! next spring /summer get them outside so they can acclimatise to big temp variations n they will be good to brumate outside next winter. i got this years babies, yearlings n adults all brumating outside now, they have all been outside from day one....you will also double there lifespan. example iv had a male wdragon outside from day one, will give 99 to 100% fertitlity...iv had a male wdragon, hand reared inside for the first 18 months, grown too fast too hot(not by me) was approx 600mm total length by then.then moved outside ,5 years on, still only approx 20% fertility, offspring just as healthy as the other, male wdragon just as healthy as the other, but fertility down.....once the fertility damage is done, its done....in saying that once outside, you will still get a longer lifespan n healthy animal . if you cant get them outside, less is more with heat. outside in summer they hide from the miday heat, and are the most active mid to late morning then late arvo. i start feeding mid october n stop feeding late march early april.weather dependent. i hope this info helps...
  9. not if there inside.p.s male waterdragons build up testosterone for breeding n fertility while brumating.
  10. by the way all you fishheads, think out side the fishtank when it comes to housing waterdragons..tanks ok for the first year. very bad for adults....
  11. got a very tame one,get busy with the hand feeding n give them a large outdoor enclosure so they feel safe.
  12. i can confirm that my w dragons dont eat zebra finches or gouldian finches (eggs, chicks or adults)....but will shread an adult mouse with glee....
  13. avairy sounds perfect, even rains no problem thistime of year. :happy2:
  14. how much calcium daily? should be weekly or fortnightly as you cant play catch-up if already one year old. They can only absorb so much....maybe a very very light dusting daily....plenty of grated carrot n dandelion helps. And either fresh or moving drinking water to help digestion and absorption . get it outside if you can.sunlight,sunlight,sunlight.....doesn't matter how flash your uvtube and heat lamp...there's no substitute for natural sunlight! conversely make shore it also has access to shade and shelter so it doesn't cook...
  15. bummer!..this time of year get it outside, atleast during the day.......sunlight,sunlight,sunlight! wont fix the feet ,but will help.....
  16. eat the cat, release the skink we all know which one should be an unwanted organisim!
