Did she have any leave she could have booked in advance? Not that it matters now I guess, but McDonalds, KFC and other similar places have opened on Christmas Day for years. It just comes with the job I guess. Gas stations still open. People still need them. I know McD's is not an essential but i've gone past on Christmas Day and the lines are massive. Guess some people just need their nuggets. :roll:

We visit the Dominion Road one sometimes when we're out that way. Mainly because they have the sponge filters I like, that none of the shops out east seem to carry. We've never bought fish there and I hardly even look at the tanks because they look like they need a good clean. Can't say I've ever had an experience like that, but i've pretty much just gone in, got what I wanted and left. I think I spend longer at Animates. I know they were being investigated a few months back. I worked at a pet shop 5-6 years ago, and the only times we ever lost animals (excluding fish) were when we had rats dumped on the doorstep in a cage and they were too far gone to save, or someone in one case gave us sick guinea pigs that needed to be put down. Both times I cried because it was just awful. I can't even understand then, how people, especially people working in the pet industry, can care so little that this happens. I would make a complaint. If they've made the news in the past for neglect and it's happening all over again they deserve to be shut down.

He just had a good feed so he's happy. I was also just told the survival rate of wild birds is not terribly high once they fall out of the nest and are in captivity?

Josh you should just make your shed the fish room. You know we'll come and help you! You're 2 minutes away. Shed is a better idea because you don't have to build any walls, just make it warm.

I would if I could put i'm in the middle of Pakuranga and I swear every single person around here owns at least one cat. :-? I wish it was easy to just put him back where he came from. Being in the middle of Auckland is terrible! He seems happier now. Not as shaky.

So 15 minutes ago I heard this god awful squealing and a whole lot of flapping, ran outside to see my cat and the neighbours cat on the driveway, and a little blackbird. I scooped him up and i've got him in a cage with some blankets in a dark room to calm him down, going on a mission to get him some food, and syringes. Question, i've had to hand raise finches and such, are wild birds any different? He opens his little mouth when I put my finger near him, he's in the just learning to stretch his wings stage. I don't want anything to happen to him, poor little guy has had a rough morning so far.

Look at the length of the fins on the female crowntails on that evil site I wish i'd never seen haha. I want! I hope my babies randomly decide to look like that. I will be the happiest fighter breeder ever.

It's always his fault! I never even really liked fighters until I met him. I was content with a nice VT floating around in my little tank. We counted finally the other night. 23 I think it was. I've seen heaps of pretty nice halfmoons around, but you look at the standards oversees and see that the fins are always bigger, always more perfect and amazing. Maybe one day.. His voice was all over the place, he couldn't hit the high notes. When he sung Amazing Grace I almost wanted to run out of the stadium to get away from the horrible noise in my ears. Second night he sounded ever so slightly better, but I'm super glad I didn't buy tickets. Last time they were great and that's how i'd like to remember them.

Oh really? You liked it? Did you go last time? That was so good! Everyone has their own opinion, so I mean no harm here, but I thought it was terrible. I have several females, green, red, white body red tail, purple, every colour but orange it seems. I'm not terribly fussy about what colour he produces fry with, I just want him to make babies just once even so I can keep his offspring with tails like him and breed nice colours from them. I really want more orange eventually, that's my plan.

I think it must be. He knows he's pretty. All he did was swim up to her, flare, swim back and flare, for three days before he spawned. His less attractive but pretty in his own way brother seems to have no real issues. Maybe he carries the awesome genes and one day i'll have fry like Mr. Orange anyway. :roll:

Those have to be the weirdest looking fish ever, but very very cool!
