  1. Hahaha. The man at the front of the picture will give me nightmares, probably forever. Cool article. Never really thought so much about how the fish are actually caught.
  2. That's the creepiest looking jellyfish i've ever seen. Didn't even think that's what it could be. I want one!
  3. I have no idea what they are but they look pretty damn cool, something from Alien?! :-?
  4. My tank isn't even two feet tall. Animates fail that day haha. Must have been super popular. I've just been admiring my neons on a black background in my little bedroom tank and it really is the best. I'm so going on a hunt through Spotlight tomorrow for a background for my new tank project now i'm all inspired.
  5. The rock background is acceptable. I was looking at it in Animates the other day thinking about it, but they didn't have the right height. I hate when you see someones super impressive tank and then you're like woah tacky background! I'd rather see cords hanging out the back.
  6. Looks good! 8) Might have to go on a spotlight mission myself seeing that! I found some horrid brown wood look lino in the garage today, just enough to use for a tank. Looks sweet and so easy to clean! Beats yucky pet shop backgrounds!

    School holidays

What are holidays? Ha. I don't even get both days of the weekend off. Might go and become a teacher.
  8. Poor worm. What a gross way to go. Pretty cool fish though. I want!
  9. I never understood either but I have a huge pile of them and a huge pile of Pokemon cards I can't bring myself to part with even though I only ever see them when I either move house or decide to clean out old boxes of stuff. Feel like i'm holding on to my childhood for as long as possible.
  10. Such a pretty fish! I was so taken with her I went on the hunt and bought one for my guppy tank. I always wondered what exactly they were meant to be called so that's awesome. :bounce: Yay!
  11. Having grown up on a farm and seeing that I think i'd almost prefer that way. Poor fish. I do hope they stop it though. Roadtrip to Hamilton? There's always room for extra fish...
  12. ""We don't touch the fish, we net them out and put them into a separate cup and then we pour the shot into a separate glass," Mr Hughes said. "So it's not as though the fish is actually coming in contact with the alcohol or anything like that until, obviously, it hits your stomach." http://www.stuff.co.nz/oddstuff/3393412 ... lp-slammed Still sucks!
  13. This makes me sad even just reading about it. I don't understand how people think it's funny. I know i'd be anti it even if I didn't keep fish. http://tvnz.co.nz/national-news/student ... ts-3387731 Look at the comments though. They've drummed up alot of publicity, so I think they'll be happy even if they don't get to go ahead with the shots.
  14. I might have to try that! I don't mind if they don't breed as he's a VT and obviously they're not the "fancy" ones that are easy to find homes for, I got him because he was too adorable not to have, but it would be fun to watch them do their thing even if only just the once. But they seem so happy swimming around together just being friends, which does make it easy not having to keep them in different tanks.
  15. Lucky for some still! My male and female have been living together since I got her and he's not even interested in spawning!
  16. I got my first red packet tonight from my partners parents. Too cute. I wish my family had cool traditions like that! Happy New Year.
  17. I would happily wait for you to be free now as a few people there drive me nuts and you are one of maybe two people who has actually given good advice, or even just informing me that the filter I bought not long ago was good quality was much appreciated. I've been visiting every week or two since I first got tropical fish and it's always the same. I went in the other day and one girl who was finishing her shift just stopped serving despite the line of people waiting, grabbed her bag and walked off. It was an oh my god moment, for the sake of five minutes! Grrr. And i'd trust your advice because the boyfriend says your dad has said (after he mentioned he'd seen you at work) that you have the same passion for your fish and they have for baseball. That's some dedication!
  18. God no! Haha. Terrible idea.

    TEMPS

It's way to hot here at the moment! Mine is set at 26, reached just over 30 last night!! With the fan on.
  20. I wish it was sunny Howick today! Where did it go? Hi!!
  21. There's always that one tank. I don't think people realise they can't live in true cold water. I have some babies in a cold water tank because I didn't want to keep them in my big tank, but my room is still stupidly hot and it doesn't upset them. Poor things at the shop though.
  22. Has anyone been to Animates Botany recently? Cold water guppies tank. There's some proper guppies in there (mostly female) but the males look entirely different. I was amazed when I saw these ones. Instantly thought about Endlers and tempted to go and buy a bunch.
  23. Pretty obvious who it is if you google it. Not good.
  24. I think it's the first one mentioned but see what I mean about the tail? Excuse the quality of the picture, he's a little camera shy. Whatever they are I can totally see how you've become addicted to these fish Barrie.
