  1. I went to drop some clothes off at the salvation army, thought i'd ask and picked up 19 BIG preserving jars for $19. Ring around!
  2. That's what I was thinking. Awesome! Haha! Welcome! :happy1:
  3. The Auckland club seems to have quite a few new members since we left! Maybe it was us...haha. Clown killies are super cute! I'm going to join the killie club this year I think, when I get round to filling out the forms lol, it's sad none of the other clubs are terribly close.
  4. So jealous, I lack the ability to make my tanks look pretty no matter how hard I try. Such a nice looking setup!
  5. Cute tank. Will be watching to see how you go. I want killies so desperately, but I doubt it'll be happening for a while due to lack of fish in Taupo! What types are you looking at?
  6. Congrats!! If only you were closer...i'd happily take some! Our little guys are all at different stages. The teeny tiny little one you gave us has doubled in size and the biggest is nearly fully grown. The others are all in between that. I'd assume a few of them are the same age, so they're a bit random in size, but they grow so fast! We have them growing out in a tank with only 5 little platy fry so I think it comes down to space. They were living with guppies and little gbas, but now they're gone they've gone crazy! I can't believe how much they eat too! Haha.
  7. Oh come on! You can't have a long running project thread without lots of photos! If we were three hours closer i'd come and take a bunch just to post them! I will be waiting.
  8. Where are the updated pictures little Josh??????!!
  9. Oh my gosh, although I like usually like small fish I would not say no to that! I love lurking on MFK. So many stupidly huge tank builds. One day... MTS at its best!
  10. I can't answer your questions but cool setup! Get lots of bullies! They're so cute!
  11. I'm not saying they can't be kept together, but that it's generally best not to. I kept a pair who showed no interest in each other in a 40l. But then i've had a female beat the hell out of a male and vise versa. It comes down to the temperament of the individual fish. Some are just mean!
  12. Would be a most excellent and impressive investment! I suggest you do it haha.
  13. Within 3 hours of my cherry barbs being put in their breeding tank I have eggs too! I feel awesome today. Yay easy breeding fish I love you!
  14. Solar power is like my dream! Sure the setup costs are huge but once it's paid for it's all good. I've been reading a lot about it in lifestyle and farming magazines lately. I need to buy a house, until then i'll keep dreaming.
  15. They are the best fish...
  16. I must have this fish! Don't put female bettas near males unless you have a breeding setup. Even then they'll bash each other. Stick with the one impressive male fighter and you'll be sweet.
  17. Jealous! I've had one pop out like 2 babies on the way home and I thought I was cool. 8)
  18. We did! There wasn't a lot to do today so we thought we'd go for a mission. It looks good! I love the idea of the big tank down the middle! Makes me want to upgrade all my tanks! The wee torrent fish are very cool indeed. I've been reading your book planning something amazing haha. I even packed up my flexi bucket and no less than three fish nets to go for a bit of a fish at the molly swamp afterwards, but my dog decided to throw a tantrum as we were leaving and when we were halfway there I remembered the bucket sitting in the middle of my lounge! We went for a look anyway and it was swarming with little ones. Next time...we may have to rope some people in to go for a look with us. I was amazed at the life there today!
  19. I'm so exicted! I transfered them back to a three foot tank now and i'm waiting ever so patiently for my wee eggs to hatch. There's more than I originally thought, you just have to look hard! I'm on an insane fish breeding mission now. It's good to have hobbies!
  20. We went for a little trip to the Trout Center today! Well worth a visit. It's so cool seeing the wee natives (and big introduced fish!) up close. I look forward to going back when everything is up and running and the tanks are fully stocked. It was also fun reliving childhood memories and walking through the trout farm. Here's a couple of pictures until Stella gets on here and adds better ones.
  21. The last eruption was 1800 years ago. I have faith that I will be dead before it goes again.
  22. I highly doubt it'll explode in my lifetime. I'll take my chances.
  23. Not a terribly scary one though. Doesn't bother me like the idea of a Tsunami.
