My dwarf honey gourami died yesterday. He was swimming head over tail doing somersaults, have never seen that before. He was also swimming head down tail up. I assumed it was a swim bladder issue and put him in a bucket with some epsom salts but he was too far gone. So back to all mini-mini fish in my planted tank. I liked that fish but I suspect he scared the fry a little. And maybe ate a couple.
  2. yep, one tiny dead shrimp smells like a kilo of rotting seafood
  3. We saw Django last night. I must admit I thought it was a 'serious' Tarantino movie so was quite disappointed by the end as it got a little ridiculous. It was also one of those plots that relied on some unnatural co-incidence occurring to hold it together, ie that the main character was a slave and yet could read and shoot accurately. The first hour or so was quite good. After that, think Kill Bill. I think Pulp Fiction was still his best work.

:rotf: makes me want to give Monty the cat a bath but I think he would likely rip me to shreds in other news, we are moving house this week - I get to have a whole room for my mini fish tanks :bounce:
  6. I can't picture a goldfish being fast enough to catch a shrimp.

it looks like a Grumpy Crab to me :slfg:
  8. There are plastic ones around
  9. those things could be anything :slfg:
  10. it's still as expensive as cafe food and it shouldn't be for a takeaway. I guess you have to be a real burger fan to justify it
  11. Burger Wisconsin is far too expensive for takeaway fast food. Haven't been, don't intend to because of that. :fshi:
  12. Jaxxnz, Maybe this lady was related to the little old lady you found wandering the streets last year and took back to her house. Maybe word has gotten out that you're nice to old ladies and this week they will all come to visit expecting a free cup of tea... maybe you need a sign on the door that says 'NO OLD LADIES'... or MAYBE your cafe looks like a soup kitchen :lar:
  13. I always use a credit card to scrape algae and there aren't any scratches on my tanks. :smln:
  14. Twisted val rots if you bury the green part in the gravel, it just likes the roots covered and the green bit sitting on the substrate. It melts if you put flourish excel in an overdose, and in my experience it doesn't like it very much anyway. Other than it has grown well for me. It seems to be one of those plants that do well or don't, so give it a try and see what happens. 8)
  15. lots of great cakes there
  16. We liked it overall and we are not McDonald/Wendy's or overpriced boutique burger fans. The only thing that let them down was the burgers were only lukewarm, I nearly took them back for hot ones but was overcome by a fit of politeness. My husband thought the sauce drowned out the contents. We both got single memphis bbq burgers, and my husband got a chocolate ice cream shake, and I got a small chips. I prefer the chips over McDonalds, they weren't as salted and I liked the bits of potato skins. We filled in the little 'how did we do' forms on the tables so we put that the burgers were cold and our names and addresses so hopefully they will send us a voucher haha I'd like to try a couple of the other burgers. I thought they were pretty good for a fast food restaurant. Also I liked the smokey flavour of the burger, the meat was much better quality than a McD patty too. Has anyone tried the deep fried zucchini?
  17. talk to the shop and get it sorted
  18. I'm going tomorrow for the first time and I can't decide what to have, there is so much lard-filled choice! And on top of that there are desserts and thickshakes. I can't fit in a burger, chips, dessert and a thickshake... :nilly:
  19. don't be afraid of a little pig's bottom :gigl:
  20. probably but it's not worth the hassle if you aren't enjoying the tank. Sand gets algae along the glass in my experience.
  21. :rotf: that is so cool I love it was it a chocolate cake?
  22. Plants will grow ok at 7500K spectrum, in a tank that size I recommend starting out at only 6 hours a day though or you could easily get overrun by algae. If you want a bushy jungle you won't have to try too hard if you use a stem plant like ambulia, twisted val would also look good planted in a big group. You could leave one of the front corners empty and then you'll have a little space to feed the fish once the back gets full. Another idea would be to add some height with a piece of driftwood and attach java fern. That would be a nice feature that wouldn't make too much work by growin too fast in a narrow tank.
  23. is an octpussesse a female octopus? :gigl:
