  1. It's probably taking a while to organise because there are no women in charge now :digH:
  2. traditional formulas rarely work well for me :lar:
  3. my loachies are pretty happy with a big clump of rocks in the middle, there isn't a big open space and they just wiggle about wherever they please. When I had a planted sandy dance floor in the middle they would gather around the edges mostly.
  4. They'll be in the tank with the sponge filter but I can take off the hose reducer and let it be as bubbly as they like.
  5. My filter used to be off at night, didn't have any filter or water chemistry issues. There isn't any reason to turn the heater off though.
  6. I have removed the poll as it wasn't working for some reason.
  7. OK see if you can vote now. It might have wanted a time period for the poll, which I didn't select. I voted for loach tank because I love those little guys
  8. and now you can cast your votes :slfg:

    The What's Up? thread.

are you mixing it up in a particular formula for your set up?
  10. I am thinking of using one of my minifish breeding compartments to house my pair of peppered cories to see if I can get some fertilised eggs. The compartment has small gravel on the bottom, any amount of moss that is helpful for them, and is about 22cm high, deep & wide. Do you think it's too small for them to go on a lovers retreat for a week or 2? If it's too small I'll flag the idea. I just thought I'd give it a go while it's empty. This is an example of the setting, only not this exact tank. I could either give them the side with the sponge filter or the airstone.

    The What's Up? thread.

how long do you expect that to last?
  12. I'm just thinking of all the minifish I could raise in those tanks :cofn:
  13. My backgrounds are painted on with waterbased acrylic paint and peel off quite easily.

    Skinny Loach

if you get bird wormer make sure it's aviverm not avitrol or avitrol plus - the others have different mixes of chemicals but Aviverm is just straight product. My skinny loaches would generally go after food and even touch it but not ingest it. When they got really tired and skinny then they would just mull around at the bottom doing not much at all till they died. At first I would catch them and give clove oil but then I started leaving them so they could die in peace in their home. If they are a new purchase you could see if the shop will take them back and get fatty ones.

    Skinny Loach

do a search on loach and me as author you will find the things I tried. If they look more like eels than swimming slugs then is probably same sort of skinny as mine and they end up dying. You might be able to perk them up for a few weeks with aviverm but I'm pretty sure it's terminal. Since I went down to 4 loaches I haven't had any go skinny so I suspect there is a social aspect to it, as in a group they don't get as much food overall and the weakest then gets terminal skinny disease. It never affected my other fish to my knowledge.
  16. I'm confused. I thought you already had the executive decided or is this meeting for the voting and whatnot? I doubt I can make it on Sunday but I will eventually join as a member.
  17. Yes I liked Reservoir Dogs. I consider that a serious Tarantino movie - black humour with semi believable killing scenes. Silly things happen but they aren't quite ridiculous enough to become totally contrived. Showing me continual blood splattering about like someone popped a meat container from the supermarket loses credibility with me and then I start to think it's not a serious movie. Django wasn't a black comedy as such I thought, more of a satire perhaps.
