  1. Sorry, that was an unelaborated answer I made while quickly snooping on the board at work  You're right anyway but the instructions I've got do say to 'calibrate it' when you first use it by letting it settle in the tank with power off for an hour or something, then set it to where you want it using the red arrow, then check later and see if the thermometer matches, and if not then move the top dial around.
  2. They aren't properly calibrated, the instructions say you have to do it yourself once it's in the tank. I think mine is set a couple of degrees higher than the thermometer reads usually.
  3. sorry Anthony, what was that? I can't hear youuuu
  4. I went in when they first opened and thought it was interesting, haven't been in lately but yes I think it's worth a look if you are over this way Andy.
  5. since when do men need advice on 'breeding'? :sml1:

Drive to end of Onehunga Mall where the train station is, turn right and it's on the left a little way down. Parking is a bit crap sometimes so you can park in the little road on the left next to it. where do you live Jarrod?
  7. I think their vs there vs thier is spelling rather than grammar. Grammar to me would be correcting 'I seen a dog today' or such like.

    The What's Up? thread.

Joe that one is beautiful but I think I'd do a darker substrate to reflect the woodland scene more truly.
  9. :rotf: hahahaha I love it. I'm the same about fish dying, still upsetting but not as heart breaking as a furry friend - must be something to do with the lack of touching involved.
  10. pffrt then you obviously haven't seen this movie: if Arnie can do it, they all can :happy2:

me too. 4 and 5 looks like it needs something else behind
  12. this tank isn't ugly, it's functional :sage: :nfs: and good plants
  13. luckily this one is in the garage that is under the house and sitting on concrete floor so no serious floor can occur, at least not like sitting on wooden floor. Landlord is sending someone today, so hopefully will be resolved one way or the other ASAP
  14. nah don't move them just get more of them! You could get quite a few in there and the more you have the more active they are and won't hide too much. Or if you do put them in a smaller tank try them with sand and see them flicking around like muppet snakes at dinner time. Mine get live food a few times a week - various worms and larvae from my bug pond, microworms, snails from the snailery. Other times they get thawed bloodworm and brine shrimp and dried foods: brineshrimp, flake, tiny fish food that I soak and fire in with a dropper or float it on the top, and shrimp pellets and hikari sinking wafers. During the working week they get a light snack when I get home, or a larger dinner. Then later in the evening I put a shrimp pellet or half a wafer for them. On the weekend I harvest the bug pond so they get food at different times of day. I try to mix it up and give different quantities or sometimes fast them occasionally.
