what time was that? I was up at Grafton at about 230 and it was very rainy sleet but I still haven't seen any snow. Now it's more unlikely as am in my pyjamas getting ready to watch a movie hehe

:sml2: I would get a turtle just to watch it chomp like that - they rule! the cat one was too cute. But I don't think she was hugging the kitten, more like when you gently elbow someone in the back who's snoring, not enough to hurt them but enough to make them roll over
  6. if possible take a lawyer to the first meeting so they see the whole process and if necessary will find any loopholes or such like in order to create a strong case. I knew someone who was a little 'railroaded' shall we say and ended up with no job after doing something silly but not serious. He was lucky enough to have the services of an employment lawyer who had a better case than they did and he got his job back after about 3 months of meetings at the employment tribunal. Of course then he had to go back to working in the unfriendly environment but it solved his cashflow problem at least. All I know is it's a very tricky business, can be quite depressing and upsetting
  7. Looks good. I didn't even notice the sponge in the back there till someone mentioned it. The val will eventually obscure it when it starts putting out runners. I had a lotus in my tank a bit smaller than yours about half way back on the same side, it didn't get too big. Yours will grow up and hide the heater a bit if you leave it there. Scarlet badis would be a nice little splash of red snooping around the lower area. I like the furcatus rainbows too but have read mixed reports about their temperament. How about some boraras brigittae? They would be your tiniest fish and you'd get some orange in the middle area of the tank. There are some at HFF at the moment too. How small can the fish get - will the catfish eat them or are they herbivores?
  8. those veins also look like beckettii
  9. 2 more loaches added. One is still a bit hidey so I usually see 5 out and about. They had a good breakfast of mosquito and daphnia this morning.

I'm wondering what I am going to eat for morning tea... maybe a ginger slice yummmm. I made a rice pudding cake with cranberries and white chocolate in it last night and my husband ate a quarter of it for breakfast. I was quite surprised at how tasty it was as I don't like rice pud. I thought I would get to bring some to FishHeads meeting on Sunday night but it seems there won't be any left by then

  20. Hello Owen Funny you should bring this up, I have just this week changed the tank again to try and stimulate some egg production: Full tank shot The trough After doing everything but giving them a plant, my strategy wasn't working so have gone back to the more natural environment setting. As soon as I put gravel in they stopped hiding and came out and about. Next day I got the plants and plopped those around. Left the moss in there in case they want to lay there and wrapped around the caves though they don't appear to need them. The trough idea is so I can feed them worms and walk away without wondering if they got any as it takes them a little while to come out after I’ve gone. It works well, just about every time I come into the room any number of them will be sitting in the trough. They are now acting like fish again instead of scared moss-hiders. There is much more activity when I’m around. One question – should the sponge filter have that layer of fuzz? Is there something wrong or is that what a seasoned sponge is supposed to do?
  21. hey guys, just wondering how your bugtopias are getting on. Mine is still going, though a few less bugs over winter. I can do a harvest of mozzies once a weekend and get a decent amount to feed out. Daphnia are still going, have been making babies over winter so I am hoping for a population explosion when the weather warms up again. Yesterday I discovered a new bug - an aquatic earthworm. I thought a bird had dropped it in but it appeared to be living under the water rather than flailing around. Seems that they could be these http://www.waitakere.govt.nz/abtcit/ei/ecowtr/macroinv/eiseniella.asp I found 3 total. According to above I should only be worried when those are the only bugs in there :sage: The blanket weed I was cultivating was removed at the beginning of winter and it hasn't grown back either.
