We were going to do that with the dvd player that died last week .... but refrained from such childish behaviour :sage: go to the Mall, you can at least try the stuff on if it's clothes you want. plus instant gratification instead of waiting for the courier Albany or Glenfield?

  8. Cool. They like the current too. Do they come up to the top to feed? oh and you see how the loaches are plump and slug shaped? If you get one that looks more like a snake than a fat slug then it might need to be wormed. One of my skinny ones died but the other is getting more sluggy.

  10. There is one Amano booked called Nature Aquarium World and it lives at Central City library but you can request it to go to you nearby. Also if you search on Stella McQueen you will find her native aquarium book and if you really want to get fish envy there is Glen Axelrod's encyclopaedia of tropical fish, get the most recent copy as it's got the most fishy pictures. Still coming thanks to my nosey nibs is Danios and Devarios and A book on loaches but I am first on the list to borrow them when they arrive :bounce:

when are we going to see the photos :bounce:
  12. Well this morning the water was lukewarm again and there was a new leak around the cylinder that had gone onto the floor this time. Have sent the landlord some photos which will further ruin his weekend and fingers crossed someone turns up tomorrow to fix or replace it.
  13. Water was hot enough for showers, maybe too hot. Tomorrow I will check the leak and the temp. again. At least we don't have to freeze while we wait for a tradesman.
  14. I like the show but I also think that some people respond to some forms of discipline that may not necessarily be appropriate for everyone, same goes for animals. :sml2:
  15. also check out the thread called Thoughts on Routine Medication in the diseases section, there are some interesting comments in there. (you can edit your post you know.... Judy Noobie)

  17. There is no logical reason why, it's just personal bias based on whatever they want to see or don't see and worrying about it is not worth the brain cells being wasted doing so. Cat people are weird, dog people are control freaks, fish people are nerds, bird people are odd, no pet people don't care about life .... the list of stereotypes goes on, there are so many and each culture will have it's own, and it's probably all rubbish. In some cultures it's probably a mark of wealth or dignity to have a large fish swimming about your lounge or in your garden. Does anyone say Amano is a nerd in a negative way? I doubt it. :smln:

  19. speaking of stereotypes, today I did see a person of Pacific Island origin buying 2 loaves of white bread and a tin of corned beef ..... maybe she was buying them for someone else? :rotf:
