he looks like trouble

it's the lunchbox from the beginning of the thread and it is about half as wide as the 25 litre tank it can sit in. I can boost the darkness by putting moss around the outside of the box. the mesh lets eggs through but is too small for fish

what did you buy ?

seeing as we haven't had a good poop thread for a while... here's a photo of one of my new tank members (mosquito rasbora) with a poop longer than he is... over time the dwarf rasbora were disappearing, I found a couple of dead ones. Got down to 6 so I bulked up the numbers with 5 mosquito rasbora. I wasn't going to mix them but they were super cute and since the loaches will eat any eggs they lay there isn't much chance of cross breeding. Hard to get a clear photo of them though, so tiny and always moving.

this beginning? there have been a few..... :facepalm: I could reduce the level of the water enough to just cover the box and the top of the filter

that's cool, and I have most or all of that stuff available. How much of a clump of moss do you mean? How much of the tank was available for swimming? All my CPDs have a diet high in microworms and they are normally pretty fat.

do they try to jump out when you take the lid off for maintenance or general poking about?

I still have CPDs, also have emerald dwarf rasbora/danio, and now have dwarf and mosquito rasbora, though couldn't get any of the last 3 to lay me some eggs. I did breed some CPDs but as you can read I ruined the experiment as it was getting off the ground. I will have a spare tank shortly, in which I hope to get a few more CPD fry and then I hope to have some gold australe killies in there. Also now have 5 gold mountain minnows too. :happy2: All of them love to eat the golden pearls you sent me :thup:

Tetra are a schooling fish so they would probably be out and about more and hang in a group if you up the numbers to about 6-8. There is no 'should' about what fish you need next, not everyone has or wants a clean up crew - maybe you could post some ideas about fish you would like to keep and we will let you whether we think they will all get along or not. PS am moving this to freshwater as I think you will get more answers in there......

Today I bought 5 gold mountain minnows for my new breeding experiment. I realise they are harder to breed than the normal ones but they are so golden I just had to try. Of the 5 one female is a bit shy but the others were eating very quickly and getting to know what the dropper looks like. I guess having had limited success in breeding so far if I get a few fry I will be quite happy. :happy2:
