  1. yeah its a little tricky without having a nosey around the device manager myself. There is another way that might work. Go to control panel > device manager then click the + next to the sound, video and game controllers. There should be something there that mentions either your sound card (ADA soundmax) or it will say something along the lines of sound device. Right click on the one which you think is the sound card and go update driver software. Choose 'Search automatically for updated driver software" This should search your PC, CD/DVD ROM and the internet for a driver. Make sure the factory CD/DVD that came with your computer is in the CD/DVD drive before doing so.
  2. Hes growing it for me sorry Nick 8)
  3. I aggree with P44, dont be so worried about protien so much. IMO, things like colour bits may have all the nutrition they need but just like we find with processed foods for humans, in more artificial form its harder for our body to abosrb. I mix up blood worms, brine shrimp, spirilina, daphnia, ox heart and meal worm. Plenty of nutrients in that and even some green in the spirilina and daphnia belly. Fresh water shrimp are good too, feed them on algae and plant matter crush them up and add to the mix. I dont look for % of protiens and calcium and all that drama, I just try to make sure their diet is as close to a natural food source as I can. I couldnt be further from an expert or anything like that so dont take me as discus feeding law by any means lol. So far though Im having great success.
  4. Im feeding mine about 10 times a day, Im also doing a 10% WC on them about half an hour after. Mine are just 6 months old so spending alot of time on them to make sure they reach their maximum potential size. I just feed small amounts often of things like blood worms, ground ox heart and discus tucker, but I generally leave some colourbits on the bottom of the tank at all times, they just pick at that every so often. There is feeder guppy fry in there too they can eat, which I think they might be. I have the time to keep and eye on them, keep them clean, its paying off too. Your situation is a little different so I think what your doing is fine, maybe get 2 auto feeders and have them working together to get smaller amounts of food out more often.
  5. You need to get the right one. Would you be able to tell me if its an All in One Package PC, so like an HP or Compaq that came with everything installed, just plug it in and away you go. Or did you have to install windows yourself and a bunch of other stuff to get it going? Either way you should have a few CDs some where. If you lucky you might even have a sound max cd which would make it much easier. Have a look around and see what you can find and let us know.
  6. You most likely need a new driver by the sounds of it you accidently deleted the old one? If you know the name of your sound card, just google for the driver and install.
  7. Price should be better then trying to import the ADA stuff I would imagine although I havnt looked into it. Aquabasis is good stuff, so is daltons.
  8. Its good to know thanks, the worse Id heard about mealworms was they can chew their way out of the frogs gut, but I asked around seems its more of a vivarium myth then truth.
  9. Oh right, hmm how would you avoid that though, isnt chitin the skin of an insect anyway? Are mealworms thicker then others?
  10. sure they didnt pick something else up with them? the way they dive bomb their food its quite easy for something else to get in the mouth too. I dont feed mine near gravel or sand, on a nice flat bit of wood or rock so no chance of eating anything it shouldnt.
  11. I've been feeding mine mealworms, easy to culture too. Either the worms or adult beatles and enjoyed by my young frog.
  12. Thanks Snookie, googling for a tail shot to be sure but it looks right.
  13. I didnt realise there were so many mastacembelus species, I think this is gunna be a tricky one. Mastacembelus pancalus has a similar tail.
  14. I picked up this fish earlier this week, it was labeled as a spiny eel, been looking around for a while now but I can figure out what he is. Notice the tail is different to most of these kinds of fish Ive seen. Pics are the best I could do he was in an awkward spot. I had trouble feeding him until I burried some bloodworms in the substrate. I love the pattern, its stunning in real life. Anyone know what he is?
  15. Congrats and well done! :bounce: micro worms are apparently very good for them newly hatched.

Yeah Ill check it out, thanks Still havnt got a pic of the spiney eel in question, hes no where to be seen this morning so Ill have to wait until evening. I've already filled the 2gb stick 9 times this morning trying to get clear puffer pics, little snots dont like cameras.
  17. pearl much? lol Nice though, cant wait to get it. :bounce: its almost more exciting then a new fish.
  18. Nice, definetly FTW on that one. Ive been wanting it for a while. I wasnt aware however that it would go red if it gets enough lighting. I was reading about it and came out with the conclusion there was green, red and indica. Hopefully my lighting will be enough to get it red then. I'll pick up some stargrass at the same time, if I dont like it I can always put it in the 'full of everything' tank. Not looking forward to planting the hairgrass its a pain in the bum, then all the rubbish that gets caught up in it.
  19. hmm maybe, I'm kinda set on just having those 2 plants, I guess Ill see if the rotala I get is red enough, if so then I guess some stargrass wouldnt hurt. I wish I had an alternative to HG to carpet with. I dont like it, but I dislike glosso more.
