bugger but i guess thats life - i might try to save the fish with a salt bath a few times a day and then see if that helps - its just had one at about 8.30 and will get another at about 10.30 then will get a few tomorrow. if its not looking any better in a few days i will cull it. cheers for the help people

i took a closer look at the fish - i think the lines are just the scales as there doesnt appear to be any scratches or anything - but still a turtle could have had a go at it. what did you do with your fish ? cull it or did you manage to cure the fish ?

im running a fluval 204 in my 128 litre - quiet as - but probably overkill

not special - but i might try the salt bathes - what ratio of water and salt ? and is it tonic salt to use ? not normal table salt aye ?

thanks for the reply alanmin4304 - is there a method to treat it ? this fish is with 13 others and 3 turtles in a 2500L pond. i havent seen these spots on anything else in the pond so wondering if i should remove it / kill it / or treat the entire pond ? i say kill it cause a quick googles suggests its fast spreading and i dont want anything else to catch it... also ive tried treating it in a bucket of tonic already thanks skip

hi vinnie - just putting this out there so if your a gamer and want a high specd machine forget this post, but if you want an old desktop computer - excellent condition i know a company that sell off all thier old equipment - the pcs are P4 2.4 ghz, between 1 and 2.5 gb ram, and 40gb hard drives - excellent work horses and cheap as chips - only $75 and they also sell laptops that come out of warranty - between $250 and $500 for a 3-4 yo machine specs range...

we recently switched to NOVA - they do a slightly higher per KW charge but no daily charge - when i worked out the cost for one or two bills they were definitely cheaper

well i guess if you have been running without a skimmer etc its gotta be doable.. now to find a pump like that one you linked to and patience grasshopper

its hard to know what to do - some say have a protein skimmer and chiller, others say that i should be fine with just one or the other and then theres the people that say that i should be fine as it currently stands. while im having a think about the tank - are the amonia, nitrite and and nitrate tests the same for fresh water and salt water ? as i already have a fresh water kit i would prefer to not need to buy the other kit if its all the same cheers skip

after seeing the tank with the rocks etc in i think im going to have just anemones, shrimp and starfish - fish maybe getting a little beyond the size of the tank. Deepsound are you sure i wouldnt need a protein skimmer ?

ok looks like i need to get looking at one of these wave maker pumps - the internal filter doesn't cut the mustard. i put 2 chucks of live rock in the tank and there is no way enough flow around them ... those dimensions dont look too bad so i better find something... I've put some shrimp in the tank to help it cycle - found a big bugger about 6.5cm long and 1cm wide with a few small ones about an 2cm long. one peice of live rock ive put in the tank has been cycling for a few months, got it from surphew last friday and a dry piece a the same time - about 3kgs in total cause anything more and there would be no room for the water
