    chain loaches

yeah got some for about $12 each at Hollywood FF Albany a few weeks back.
  2. thats the stuff I use. Used 2 bags mixed in with some other fine grey stuff. Looks ok and really enhances the plant growth!
  3. I too would recommend the dwarf chain loaches. Get a pack of them like 6 or 8 and they will do the business nicely!
  4. the snapper are already roe'd up
  5. more neons? look great in a bunch although neons in general only seem to school up tight when a bit scared. How about a siamese fighter? The only risk I see is that the barbs may try nip his fins :-?
  6. Looks awesome virgil. Still got that new clean tank look about it too!
  7. You sure can trim and replant Virgil. I have done this with some success in the past. Like with gardening there probably is a correct way of doing it. I've just been cutting randomly and then planting. Most have grown well but some have not so interested in hearing the right way of doing it.
  8. yeah could be twisted val? hey vigil - if ya want some just let me know. Got plenty in the tank that I can get rid of. Grows really fast so ya wont need much the new chain loaches I got yesterday are real characters. They have taken to schooling with the danios and are very active.

    urgent help

should be fine mate. Better than living in a plastic bag
  10. Not 100% sure but it bloody grows like wildfire! Got given a few strands from a mate a few months back and since then it has really taken off. Have had to cut it back every 2nd week or so. About time i revised the planting setup and put some decent quality stuff in there. Thinking about rearranging the whole tank when i have some time.
  11. Quick update Took a pic of the tank today - been a long time since any update but here it is At the moment its stocked with a male Blue Ram (lost my female so after another), a pair of Neon Dwarf Rainbows, 6 x Glowlight Danios, 2 Giant Danios, 2x Juli Corys, 2 x Dwarf Loaches. After a couple of bristlenose, a female blue ram and I'm not sure what else is on the cards....open to ideas :-? Might take a few better pics and start a thread in the right section when I have the time.
  12. At the present I have a pair of giant danios and 6 glow danios plus a pair of dwarf rainbows and I did have pair of blue rams but now have only the one. Oh and a couple of Juli cats too. Am thinking first I need another female ram and then i am thinking some kuhli loaces and a couple of bristlenose. Tanks about the same size as yours.
  13. Nice one Virgil, the family grows! I sat down and had a good look at my tank on the weekend and trying to work out what fish to get next. I am really lacking in ideas at the moment! :-?
  14. could just be due to a read Virgil and the last one or 2 being estimates with the winter effect not built in. I dont think our power bill jumped by that much but it is more like $110-115 a month rather than $80
  15. Ive got a CanonIXUS 860IS and its pretty good for a camera under $500. Has some pretty cool point and shoot settings specifically for kids (never stop moving) and the aquarium too
  16. you use the QUOTE button on the top right and it automatically brings it up as part of your reply
  17. Sorry barrie you've missed the boat on my point.....your boats gone to waiheke mate but this ones only going to rangi. What i was pointing out is that hes been taking advantage of the pressures put on tradespeople as result of the show. I am sure he trusts them fine (otherwise a fake camera wont do shit will it) but by putting this fake cam out he's been getting better deals than hes been quoted etc. It's a bit unfair on the tradespeople etc but it does show you the effect the Target has had. Hell i still even trust tradespeople in my home even after having numerous items stolen by a dodgy carpet layer years ago!
  18. haha good one barrie A mate of mine has a very obvious but fake camera which he's set up in various places around his place when he's been getting work done by tradesmen. Has got some quality jobs and good prices too over the years!
  19. what can you catch down that way yeahboy? My wife is draggin me down to see the rellies over christmas and i usually use that time to chase kings out at the barrier or around coro or the far north. Maybe worthwhile bringing a rod down with me?
  20. Only a couple weeks after from memory but not long after that I had a bit of an issue and the tank turned into a bit of a CSI scene and lost a few All running smoothly now tho and has been for the last few months
  21. not overly large virgil - about 3 foot so 120ltr'ish Some details in an old post of mine here http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/previo ... sc&start=0 Should really make an effort to get some more recent pics up
  22. Sounds good Virgil. I'm gonna grab a couple more Bristlenose this weekend I think. After seeing your new tank and a few others on here over the last week or so I have some new inspiration to put some effort in to mine and make it look 1/2 decent again!

    New Tank

Great work there adodge. Tank looks very good. Has matured nicely!
  24. I'm using flourite black (very fine gravel - almost sand) as my substrate and have never had plants grow so well as what I have now. So much better than anything I have used in the past.
  25. nice one virgil - looks sweet mate! well done
