Hi, I seem to have abit of a problem with this. In my 2foot tank its turning up on the plants and rocks and quite quickly. The tank is lighted for 12 hours aday and theres currently 9 small fish in there. Any ideas?? How to get rid of? How to prevent it coming back?

    Setting up new tank

Ok well ive actually had the tank for about 10 years and tested it for cracks the other day as has not been in use for some time. Yesterday I just went and got some tubing for the pump lol, was the last stuff i needed. So far everything has checked out fine. The waters very clear for day 2 in comparison to my older setups. I was intending on putting some plants in tomorrow maybe and a few fish next week. From what I was told the stress zyme will help the biological cycle get underway? Ive been told this by a number of shops (i know they are probably after my $$ but $$ no real issue). Will this just help more when I get those first few fish in there? I was under the impression that a small amout of salt was recommended to be added with new water? Hmmm As for those 1st few fish what would you recommend?
  5. Ok, so I've got all the gear now and today started setting up the new tankl Its 24 by 12 by 12 and running undergravel filter plus external filter. Ive filled it and set the filter going and bought a start up kit that includeds PH stabilizer, salt, ammo lock, stress zyme and stress coat. Ive added per the instructions and now I guess its a matter of waiting. When can i introduce plants & fish? I've heard that plants can go in straight away, is this correct? And fish? After a week i can add a few? like 5 or 6 small fish? Any tips would be appreciated
  6. yeah thats what I thought but they were about the same price anyway. Went out to Hollywood Fish Farm in mt Roskill this arvo, all good. Picked up an Aqua One dble tube light and external filter
  7. well thanks for your comments. I've always been a fan for the external overhanging filters like the aqua clear as I love the sound of the water goin back into the tank, and yeah they are much easier to clean. However a few of the shops I've been visiting have put me off them saying they are old school and not used by mnay people nowadays...hmmm
  8. Hey everyone, just resetting up my tank as i haven't had the space for a while but finally i do. But anyway, its a 24 by 12 by 12 inch tank and I'm wondering what filter I should use on it. It has a UGF but I've been thinking about also adding an external overhanging filter or internal pump filter. Which of these are more preferred nowadays and what is recommended? thanks in advance for your advice
