    Dam whitespot!

Noticed a couple of tiny white spots on my clown loache yesterday and today return home from work to find it's spread to half the fish in the tank. I've upped the temp to 29-30 deg and increased aeration. And done close to a full treatment of blue circle white spot cure (didnt wanna go too hard out on the clown). Also removed the carbon from the filter Anyway, just wondering if there is anything else I should be doing to help the cause? Thanks Jade
  4. yeah gotta agree cant go wrong with a visit to Pupuke, Jansens (Wairau) and Hollywood in Albany. All are about 5 -10mins drive from me and can usually find something interesting at one of them
  5. Hey, Have had a horsed faced loach since the start of the year and thought I'd lost him until this morning. I had not seen him in over 3 months and yesterday made that call that he way definitely a gonner but this morning when I got up there he was . Now I now these guys dig into the gravel a fair bit but is it usual for them to go unseen for this amount of time??? Other fish is the tank are 8 neons, couple of small clown loaches, a green corydoras, some golden danios, 3 bloodfins, a small borneo sucker and a bumblebee goby.

    Cause of death?

Hey everyone, wondering if u can help me out here... Noticed one of my furcatus (sp?) rainbows not looking too good yesterday. Seemed to be swimming slowly round the top of the tank and its mouth appeared to belocked open. at some times he was right up at the waters surface and just hovering around slowly. Sure enough he was dead this morning, mouth still open. otherwise he looked fine. Any idea what happened here? All other fish seem ok, PH, nitrate, nitrite and amonia tests all A OK. Cheers, any ideas would be appreciated Jade
  11. this soounds very similar to my cloudy water issue that i posted in freshwater section not so long ago. thought i had cured it but looks to have returned :-?

    cloudy water

thanks bill, will try a small box filter with carbon tomorrow. Dont think its algae as well theres none of the glass and its cloudy like milk in my tank. Have checked the tank pretty hard, no dead fish, plants seem fine. I checked the rocks with vinegar a lil while back. Could they have decomposed? dont think theres been over feeding but possible. Also checked Ph b4 and its looks to have dropped closer to 6 :-?

    cloudy water

Ok had an idea that it may be due to me putting the temp up abit. long story but the other day i noticed temp was 21 and heater light wasn't on. Checked and found it was unplugged  so anyway turned it back on, temp back to 26 and i think since then is when the cloudy water has appeared. So i've drop it back down to 23-24 to see what happens if anyhting. but yeah its still very cloudy :-?

    Tank Update

Hi, Some of you may remember that i setup my tank just prior to christmas, well this is just an update to let you all know that the tank seems tobe going very well at the moment and is functioning well as a community tank. Its a 2ft tank and at present holds: 5 neons tetra 4 bloodfin tetra 1 green corydoras 1 horse faced loache 1 bumble bee goby 3 furcata rainbows (2m/ 1f) - originally had 2 pair but 1 femalel died for unknown reason so yeah that is my setup at the moment. Wont be adding too many more fish but does anyone have any recommendations as to what else would go well? Bear in mind that I can't really have long finned species due to fear that the bumble bee goby may nip them. I was thinking of maybe bumping up the number of neons to 8 and maybe adding a borneo sucker altho Im not sure how big these will grow.
