I purchased 2 Madagascar Rainbow fish without knowing too much about them. Looks to be a male and female, Should they be in a school or is a pair ok? Are they hard to breed?

That is what I have now, but just looking for a better option and less in my tank I will probably order 1 in the next week or so, I can let you know when I get it, but would be good to know from someone who has one if they work or not.

Time for some updates Does anyone know the name of this coral? I bought it as mini purple xenia, is that correct? I also have a tomato clown in there but would stay still for a photo. Any feedback is appreciated.

Yes scrunched up newspaper helps the bag stay in place. I use a heatpak when I bring home fish from CHCH to Nelson, the cost of a heatpak is nothing compared to the price of the fish.

I have recently setup a nano marine tank and have a few questions about lighting. I have 2 x 11PL lights 1x blue 1x 8000k White. Do I need a moon light? What time peroids should the lights be on for? Should the blue be on longer than the white?

Update: I have changed the eheim circ pump for the resun wave pump, purchased a refractometer and made some mods to the light hood. I removed the ballast from the lid and fitted an additional PL11W light. It now looks like this

I have been told the 14000k PL tubes are not as bright as the 8000k, The leds I am going to use are about 150,000mcd and I think I have room for about 20, hopefully that will be plenty. I will keep an eye on the impellor shaft. I did also wonder about the eheim being to direct. I will look into a small wave pump. The temp is a concern but this is the hottest time of year so I will see how it goes over the next couple of weeks, But I am prepared to fit a fan if needed. The temp has only raised 1 degree during the day so far. I will raise the salinity this weekend and yes the hydrometer is quite hard to read. Thanks for the advice
