  3. I got an Acarichthys heckelii last week and last night it is gasping a lot. I picked it up in chch thurs afternoon and got back to Nelson with it Friday morning, Friday night it was still looking a little bit stressed. I did a 30% water change on Saturday and it looked better within hours. Sunday it looked great, it had coloured up well and was eating, no gasping. Monday evening it was gasping a lot but still good colours, still swimming fine. Water tested PH 6.8 Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate ~5ppm (from dosing ferts for plants) I don't have many medications here just metro and levamisole. Any suggestions?
  4. Good info on them here http://www.dwarfpuffers.com/
  5. I got it from Phill Collis as a white whiptail, I did think female but wasn't sure. We may be able to come to an arrangement.

  9. I did think that but I thought they can get quite agro.
  10. I think I will pass on that big orange one thanks. I wouldn't want you to be in trouble with Sophie.
  11. Marine tank get 10-15% changed per week
  12. Not too interested in convicts. I do plan on a tank upgrade in the future when we aren't renting. I think tank size will be fine for now as 2 of the leucosticta got to 23cm Not too worried about digging as I won't have as many fish that dig. How do the chalceus behave in a community setup? would they nip at the threadfin? Are there any other ctenopoma imported? Do we get rainbow cichlid (Herotilapia multispinosa)?
  13. I have just sold my 5 large Jurupari and I'm looking for something similar sized for my 300l planted tank. Currently stocked with snowball plecs, whiptails, leopard ctenopoma, rainbow shark, fire eel (dwarf), black widow tetras. Looking to get 1 or 2 fish I have been considering Threadfin Heckeli, Pinktail chalceus, gold saum, firemouth. Any other suggestions or comments on those fish?
  14. I would say its more likely to be another catfish. What are the other catfish?
  15. I will try to find the pic of the 2 I pulled out.
  16. I have recently discovered some large bristle worms in my tank, approx 10-12cm long 5-6mm wide. I have also noticed the smaller bristleworms, snails, asterina stars and now glass shrimp have gone missing :an!gry Are the larger bristle worms good or bad?
  17. I have 3, 2 of them are about 12-14cm and 1 is 17cm which I think is male because of the size and it is fanning a lot. I don't have many pics but I am trying to get some more to post in the collections. What pics are best for sexing? from above?
  18. Nice collection Geoff, Any tips on sexing L142/LDA33?
  19. Yep, Zoas came from Living Reef, Mushrooms came from Blenheim.
  20. Green mushrooms Orange Zoas, only a few hours after adding to tank
  21. Very nice! Have you just got them?
  22. Sorry to hijack, Does the safety factor change for low iron/starfire glass? Does low iron mean weaker glass?
  23. Thats what I have done. Taken about a third out by siphon today with water change, I will continue over the next couple of weeks.
  24. Thanks LA, I have mixed some more salt last night so I can take out half substrate this weekend, hopefully this will get things back to normal in there.
