  1. Can we get these in NZ?
  2. Plecos are pretty hardy so they should pull through. I would do a water change everyday for the next week or so.
  3. I can give you a hand at this end, I have some marine experience. I have had corals and fish for almost 24hrs in poly boxes. driving with them in a van and having a temp tank for them setup beforehand would be the way to go.
  4. Thats who I just got a quote from, He said he doesn't ship anymore now that mainfreight won't take them. It was yours and Henwards tanks that made me contact him.
  5. I do know steve, not interested in building myself, I am wanting a display tank with high quality finish. Thanks, I have called Dave, waiting to hear back
  6. I am looking at getting a new tank made but will need to get it shipped to Nelson. (unless someone can be recommended to make it closer) Has anyone had a tank shipped to them? What company have you used? Thanks
  7. I have been using Hikari for a while now, plecs eat it quite fast and have been growing well. Just wondering about a change or variety. I will get some JBL next time I'm at the lfs.
  8. Anyone using this? http://www.trademe.co.nz/pets-animals/f ... 644117.htm Is it good? do your plecos like it?
  9. Do you have a pic of them in your tank? I did see lemons as well as silver tips, choice in Nelson is pretty limited so I will have to order them in anyway.
  10. I would love rummynose but they seem to disappear in my tank (large mouths) Maybe emperor, does anyone have a large group of these?
  11. I am wanting to get a group of approx 30 tetras for my 300L 4ft tank, looking for something medium sized (ie bigger than neon) I have had black widows and redfins in the past. I have been looking at pristellas. Any other suggestions or comments?
  12. Hi Caryl come and see me at Bicycle Business Nelson, I am happy to go through what I know with you.
  13. Do you need a home for them? How many are there?
  14. Yep probably the same 1, price went up on it for some reason.
  15. The L142 I have seen locally is over $300, Hence my comment about price. I'm happy to part with my money for quality fish but there is a limit of what I will spend
  16. Bring your mountain bike and I can show you some trails. There is some very good riding around Nelson. I can lend you a bike if needed.
  17. I still have most of mine, hoping to expand later this year when I get a larger tank. Availability and price in Nelson is a problem.
  18. I have had a cockatoo in a 60L with a blue ram and they didn't bother each other. But individual fish will vary.
  19. I am going to change my marine tank to a 60x30x30cm tank and I am looking for lighting to suit. I would like to go to LED but T5HO is the other option. I have been looking at 2 of these http://www.fish-street.com/weipro_led_lighting_led-c 1x C60 blue 1x C60 white. or maybe the L60 I will be keeping soft corals and maybe try some sps. Any suggestions appreciated, I don't want to spend big $$ but happy to get something good.
  20. http://www.trademe.co.nz/pets-animals/f ... 752361.htm Look like GM to me.
  21. I have a 40L marine running for 18months with no skimmer 15-20% water changes weekly I have had it crash a few months ago (kh dropped causing PH swings) seems to be stable for the last 3 months, and was before that. I use purigen and seachem phos remover and never had an issues with phosphates. I keep stocking low a few soft corals, camelback shrimp and blue/yellow damsel I am going to get a skimmer from tunze when they are available in NZ.
  22. I use gold zebra loaches in my 300L tank that was infested with Trumpet snails. I had 4 loaches and just cut back to 2 as I haven't seen a snail in months. The zebra loaches stay smaller than some of the others and don't eat plants.
  23. Gills looked ok, although I hadn't looked at them before it was gasping.
  24. Fish is dead this morning. I assume it was mostly caused by the stress of transport, and something it probably already had or been previously exposed to given how quick it went downhill. I do quarantine most of my fish that I buy, I don't believe quarantining would have changed the outcome in this situation, I have found most fish are usually quite stressed in a quarantine tank.
  25. Nice tank, Apistos and whiptails would look great, or a heap of rummynose tetras The anubias isn't var nana by the size of it. Keep an eye on the trumpet snails they can multiply quickly
