Goldfish stocking vs tropical stocking
I got an email from a petclub and was interested in the statement quoted below. Is it accurate? I always thought goldfish were messy things that produce a lot of waste.

can Mollys be kept with guppys?
thanks for all the information. lol @male guppies mating with anything. I had my red tux male in a salted QT because a female got annoyed and ripped his tail. he hid in the corner for a couple of days so I added a female platy for company.. wow - see him come to life, he was chasing and showing off to her like she was a guppy. Never saw any mating though. My daughters tank will have the usual driftwood, a few plants and an ornament (urn) to provide hidey places. Not to worried about saving fry though... my female guppies in the community tank breed 3-4 weekly and usually all at once! (i.e they drop all the same day)

is a 55W heater enough for a 70L tank?
I've only noticed it on the aquaone heaters.. they get a much thicker growth!

Murky Water?
your filter media (sponge/wool) should only need a rinse in discarded tank water whenever you do a water change. I only replace my wool and/or cartridge every 8 weeks. I also have an AR380. They're a great little tank. Just leave the noodles be.. I have yet to clean those, they should be below your sponges/wool. Have you got wool? the black sponge alone is not enough and will let too much muck back into the tank.

thanks melanie.. I started with aquaone heaters but have found the jager far superior. I think the A1 are probably better than the blue planet .. but I was budget minded today! One thing that is weird about the aquaone heaters , is that when new they grow a slime on the rubbery bits!

I'm using a 150W Jager for my AR850 (160L) Guess I'll get the 100W but what i really need is a 75w jager lol.

The Known Universe
well it truly is amazing. I don't find anything stereotypical about humans being in awe of the world around us and the magnificence of the universe. . Shows us we think and contemplate.

opened the heater and the glass is broken. back to the store tomorrow. Hope it's not an indication of the brand quality (blue planet) I think i got the last 100w so might have to pay more for a jager anyway. don't like the look of the elite. How annoying.

is a 55W heater enough for a 70L tank?
Just wondering whether I should take advantage of animates special on elite/blue planet heaters... are these any good? Their next size is 100W .. I have a 55W aquaone heater but could always put in a 25W one as well. Would prefer a jager .. but budget not allowing it!

or do I need to go to the next size (75w). I have a spare 55W heater otherwise I'll need to buy another heater for my daughters new tank.

Papakura Water
good question... I guess it takes out any impurities I've missed but I have been thinking about this and wondering if I actually need it at all. When i set up my first little AR380 just over a year ago, I did everything by the book and put in the filter cartridges which are premade with a layer of wool and carbon underneath. I changed them 6-8 weekly. But now I'm thinking I could just go to a wool layer by itself, by it in bulk and save myself a heap of money. The cartridges are convenient, don't leave loose wool fibres to get stuck on the impeller.. but soon start adding up in price. If I don't really need carbon at all, maybe it's time to ditch it. I'm also running an AR850 now, using the same type of filter system with noodles, black sponge, and wool/carbon cartridge. ok.. so who uses carbon in their filter and what is the purpose?

Rainbow skinks now unwanted organism
probably not allowed to keep. You'd need a permit I guess. If you ended up with a pregnant female and she laid eggs.. you could be done for breeding!

Papakura Water
i use stress coat or a more basic water conditioner to remove the chlorine etc. The filter cartridges are premade with carbon in them and I change them for new ones every 8 weeks. Been doing this for over a year and everything seems in order.

chocolate zebra is all better(updated with two pics 16 July)
Yours are gorgeous Phoenix. The breeder told me he would darken up as he gets older, he's still quite little.
