  1. wow thats pretty weird looking... if only you could get tiny little stingrays to look like birds...
  2. not fish but ive had some bad times with turtles...
  3. trouble is most colourful fish are schooling heres an article anyway http://www.wetwebmedia.com/fwsubwebindex/topdwelsmonks.htm
  4. hmm if your going to add any more i would vote for some surface dwellers, got a lot of mid - bottom dwellers in there. not sure what to suggest, hatchets are cool but not very colourful if that is what you are after.
  5. if the store explained carefully that the fish would only be suitable for a couple of month of extremely careful maintenance then yes it would be fit for purpose. but they don't, whether its because of active deception or just keeping their mouths shut customers think that the fish should be able to live for years in a tank like that. and it is far from fit for that purpose.
  6. 1st scape looked good, new scape even better! looks more natural off centre. feel like it needs something at the back though...
  7. buyers of these tanks are within their rights to return the tank under the consumer guarantees act. but is there anything in the law to prevent them being sold in the first place, as long as they obey the act?
  8. just to say that i'm not trying to badmouth animates or the people that work there. this is just one practice I disagree with strongly. HWFF don't. they sell small tanks but they aren't marketed for goldfish
  9. but not only selling a product that is clearly unfit for its purpose, but then including 2 fish with a tank that isn't even suitable for one, and by including the fish with the tank I assume that no cycling will take place. and all with the animates logo all over it, they can hardly claim the they are just 'selling a product'
  10. Animates brand goldfish 'learner' kits: 21L with 2 FREE comet (the biggest type?) goldfish plus on the same page: Marina Cool 10L goldfish kit
  11. yeah I tried to find that on their terrible website...
  12. i would have taken one off your hands.... saw them last time, one of those bands you have to see at least once in your life. epic.
  13. ok an update: I now have 2 decent sized juveniles that come out of the plants every now and then. They are eating the same food as the adults with no problems. I see no reason why I shouldn't have 2 extra adults before long. oh yeah!
  14. looks like a cuckoo to me.] what flavour is it?
  15. stink, some fish have no idea about filters. my whiptail has rather short tail filaments for that reason...
  16. brackish aquariums (esp with the fish you have chosen) are closer to freshwater than marine. don't stress about it too much, no special filtration is required. I have seen live rock in a brackish aquarium but i think it was very salty. try hardy plants that like hard, alkaline water (that will kill some plants, ie. swords, before the salt will) Java fern does really well. orange chromides come in brackish water (at least at HWFF), BB gobies usually come from fresh.
  17. did you find a pic of the deep sea marine fish? i mean these ones:
  18. peat that is meant for gardens contains chemicals that is not good for tanks. I use aquarium peat in a little box filter. works a treat.

  20. large group of tetras would look really good, or hatchetfish hanging out at the top?
  21. whiptails are sooo much better unless you have a huge tank. probably better than a BN in a small tank cause they are so skinny
