  1. hmm i can't see any native lilly on http://www.nzpcn.org.nz/ whats the family name for lilly?
  2. could a new sheet be stuck over the bottom? would be quick and easy.
  3. at least sell them without the 6ft tank and make sure they are going in a huge tank....
  4. bolivian rams are great fish, pretty hardy and very colourful. but with dwarfs you need to check on the territory requirements - some species need a bigger territory than others. most dwarf cichlids like lots of plants rather than rocks. check out http://www.dwarfcichlid.com as a starting point, then do further research into the species your keen on.
  5. stunning cardinals! some of mine are getting that big - they look so good fully grown. any tips for getting them big?
  6. you never cease to amaze me a video of your tank would be awesome, photos just don't do it justice i suspect
  7. well there definitely is a frog but there might be a fish too. no
  8. isnt there a fish that lives in bromiliad flowers? or is it a frog
  9. yeah the tank is a challenge, i bought it to be a brackish tank for archerfish so it's taller than it is wide, but it didn't work out. my stand can hold a 4 footer so one day... some of the swords are a bit close together but i need to do a complete rescape sometime to fit them in better. there is a cool tree root in there but the java fern and moss have covered it that could be better displayed.
  10. you can get the colour charts online. i found them on google images when i lost my colour chart.

  13. Hope you get it back, turtles just love to escape! had one go missing from a pond several years back (I suspect someone stole it). didn't get it back unfortunately but lots of people responded to my notices and I eventually got given one that someone had found and nobody had claimed.
  14. some species are worst than others. i think some will leave though plants alone
  15. some talk about them here: http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=29454&start=0 HWFF Mt Roskill has some in their big display tank with Helen
  16. wow good list. that should be a sticky, maybe with common names too.
  17. i'm no expert of either but I would say no. I suspect they need totally different water chemistry and would eat each other.
  18. yeah get a 'cool daylight' energy saver the brighter the better. then crypts, java fern, (mid) green hygrophilla (back) and theres not many foreground plants that will live without good light, but ive have good success with mondo grass. java fern is great you can plant it on wood/rocks to get more hight. mondo grass is tricky because its technically a terrestrial plant but ive found it adapts to being totally submersed. other plants that might work: cabomba, indian fern but the others are a better bet.
  19. there is a close relative of the silver dollar that is not quite so big, has more colour (red) and is not so destructive to plants. be dammed if i can remember what its called though. I have seen them for sale in NZ.
  20. what kind of lighting you using? any ferts?
  21. you can get new motors for the jebo filters for like $30 at HWFF. thats if you want to go that way.
  22. everything would eat the fry I would think :tears:
  23. this is all some trick to get us to reveal our real names
  24. though actually most of the drawings are useful too, get an idea of what the plant should look like without all the normal variation to confuse you.
