  5. Hi all, just thought I would post a couple of pics to show off my awesome new male betta. Great Colours B
  6. I have to agree with shae, on the fact that you have 3 females to male, and that platties arn't really that hard to get a breeding pair, so he could be selling any fish. i mean Ihave a breeding pair, but still wouldn't feel right selling them as a breeding pair. B

    Hi all

Hi and welcome ormalli, welcome to the fishroom, and I see you found chat, Like I said, just send me a message when you want to pop round. B
  8. the method I hear of most is to cut it up into small sortions and then freeze it, and when it comes time to feed, just grate it over the tank. B
  9. checked the tank on the deck with the WCMM's in it and no deaths all very well, and was darn cold last night here too
  10. I am gonna go against the flow again here and say Jebo, as I have had mine a few months now and it is a dream, so quiet, so efficiant and cheaper too, i was also recommended the brand by a friend who had been using one on his turtle tank for a couple of years. B No opinion on the others as I have never used them.
  11. Also some site don't allow hotlinking of the pictures as anthony said use http://www.imageshack.ws/ or I use www.photobucket.com as it gives me the online photo album aswell. B

    New Setup

lol snowman, to be child proof they would need to have big stoppers on the end to stop them being slipped out of the handles. B

    New Setup

Hi All, just thought I would pp in a couple of pics of the tank setup today for cichlids, and will add pics as I go. The rocks are from an existing tank and the filter is currently running in a cycled tank, and will be added shortly. And the cabinet is one that I have framed, the skeleton is a steel frame fromanother club member, the stand isn't completed but is nearly there, just a few finishing touches, like the catches to keep the door shut instead of having the wood thru the handles lol B
  14. Hi phillz, When I built my 3 foot i gave it a week to cure and then a week and half to cycle, alot os self control was needed. B p.s I have just set up another tank and am having to wait while it cycles
  15. I have a grey fine gravel substrate in most of my tanks and find it awesome for the plants as they get the chance to easily extend thier roots through it. Also i have quite a deep base for the roots to get a good hold in and it seems to have mnade all the difference. as to the high and low level of the gravel, I have got my gravel sloping up towards the back a bit, as this gives a bit of depth to the tank, and allows you tpo place the plants to give maximum viewing and maximum conditions for the plants to grow. NOT DIY CO2!

Do a search and look for co2 systems, both warren and dark have set them up, and dark can even assemble for you, otherwise you can buy nutrafin co2 systems, but would be big enough for your setup I don't think. This is one post where Dark has talked about his setup http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/viewto ... hlight=c02 B

    Question

Hi All, I have just purchased a syno and was wondering what the general concensus is it was sold to me as Synodontis Decorus, which to me seems right, as he matches the pics on the internet. BUT My question is I was sold the Decorus for $34.95 and they also had a Clown Synodontis for $89.95(I think) are these two fish not one and the same. This is him just cos I had taken the pics. thanks Heaps Guys B
  19. HI and welcome Dave, As said above I also am in wellington and just round the corner in Tawa in fact. A few of us meet most nites in the chatroom round 9pm if you want to join us. 20. Hi Jane,m I was talking more about the private trade and exchange here on the forum, as you will find most members will either ship them at your cost or will drive halfway to make things easier, you never know if you don't try. B
  21. the best bit about the cave under the ramp, is you can still see inside the cave and see whats happening
  22. It depends on what sort of look you want to go for, I have suggested bfore hand that you could turn the spot under the ramp into a cave, and you may find you get fish spawnign in there, you can build rocks up round it or stick driftwood in front of it to create the cave look. B

  24. Your best bet would be to pop into a jansens or hollywoods, an ask there, or alternatly try doing an online search through www.google.com and see what you come up with. B
  25. do a search for PMDD or Poor Man's Dupla Drops and look for a post by Warren, he has put the recipe on her a couple of times for people. B
