  1. Might be better posting this in the livebearer section, you'll get a better reponse - but I am sure platies can change sexes just like the swordtail can.
  2. What other type of moss could you use? apart from java
  3. I only have a royal, and he lives with discus, heaps of cories, BN"S and a snowball pleco and he's very friendly, my plants don't get eaten although he is forever on them cleaning
  4. Cool, I never noticed that .. good spotting Ira
  5. YAY you finally got your loaches the yoyo's are just so cute, I am now wanting to get more and more of the zebra & yoyos I just love them they're so inquizative (sp?) my 2 zebras are always poking there heads out of there castle to see whats happening
  6. i find our royal whiptail does a excellent job of keeping my tank & plants free from algae - he is such a busy wee fishie
  7. 18 tanks, but currently only 13 running
  8. I received the snail catcher today - BUT now I hear of stories about there bristlenoses and other small fish getting stuck in them!! The hole the snails go into is rather large and now I'm worried that my whiptail or even my snowball pleco will end up in it!!! Anyone out there tried these JBL Limcollect traps before? will the fish get stuck in there?
  9. Well done Sweetysmum, you've done a fantastic job looking after her Any idea how long they can live for?

  14. The cure for MCS is MAS - multiple avairy syndrome you can fit more in avairys
  15. Hopefully he'll start coming out when he settles in it's fustrating paying alot of money for fish you you never see though :-?
  16. We had the same problem with our snowball pleco, he would never come out - but just recently we put him in a different tank and now we see him all the time. maybe try changing the tank alittle with new plants, ornaments
  17. Nice pics I love the "spotty GBA" cute
  18. bestest fav fish would have to be the Lumpheads then: cories, plecos, frontosas and the list goes on......
  19. Thats right the Jewels are from the rivers same as the lumpheads They prolly will be ok with the acaras
  20. I like blue acaras too but they are american also the convicts - not sure if they are suited with the jewel (african) might pay to google to find out if there diets, water conditions are the same
  21. i love jewels, they are so nice - I don't find ours get that aggro but they do know how to take care of themselves. We have ours in a mixed african tank - however the only fish they do have fights with is my convicts, so I proberly wouldn't suggest convicts as tank mates You could try - electric yellows, dolphins
  22. You could give the convicts ago. The smallest I've had breeding pairs in was 3 foot. Really depends on the fish, usually the females tend to get very stroppy and pick on the male - but in saying that I have had pairs that have been awesome and not aggro at all Trial & error :bounce:
  23. As Deno said, they'd be fine when smaller, but when they start having babies you'll end up with 100's and mum & dad WILL start getting stroppy with each other in a tank that small
