I see people on this forum feed their frys BBS, just wanting to know if the frozen stuff is any good? Don't know if I'll have the time to hatch these and the frozen stuff looks easy enough. Big tank is going through a mating frenzy stage with the fighter building his little bubble nest and prospective girls checking it out and the Cockatoos forever chasing the loaches away from their corner.

dam you don't happen to know anyone in the ministry here do you? lol... my ultimate dream would be to knock down a wall and put a 10footer Discus display with various tetras..got to save for a house first since mum won't hand over this house without a fight

haha holy crap that MUST have been one HUGE tank...I've looked into importing too the minimum order is like $1500 and then shipping and whatever paperworks on top. But they were selling Discus at CHEAP prices - 5cm Blue Diamonds was $6.50 each etc and misc Discus at $3 each! If I had several 8footers I would SO import then sell off and keep the best ones for myself

WOW they are nice..looks a little crowded though, getting greedy there lol. I only have 9 at the moment - going to downsize to 7. So the beef heart makes them brighter in colour? K I will presevere - might use mum's magic bullet when she's not home. Did you have a bare bottom tank though? - how was the cleaning factor if you had gravel? I feed them on the bare bottom side (won't fully gravel until the smaller Discus have grown a bit)

I tried beef heart from the DIY section but the Discus just spit it back out, I've spent almost 3 hours re-freezing and re-cutting pieces of beef heart so the pieces are small enough but they won't take it wasted 3 hours of my life lol and I had severe hand cramp from cutting frozen meat... (mum wouldn't let me borrow her Magic Bullet to blend). Tried feeding them three times so they were used to it but just didn't swallow it. THERE HAS GOT TO BE AN EASIER WAY Am thinking about buying a big tub of the new Vikings Discus formula from HFF..anyone tried that?

mine don't do Tubiflex either - might also be a Discus thing?

Hey guys, wanting to know what people are feeding their Discus and if they know what kind of granules has the highest nutrient value and the lowest ash... also - has anyone tried those bulk Discus 1kg buckets on TM? - is it any good? Currently using NLS granules

but do the fish take to the freeze-dried stuff as they do to the frozen ones? I may be interested.... 8)

haha I do put in a little more just to make sure every little critter in there gets some at least - it's like a feeding frenzy when the bloodworms go in! Do people methyl blue their bloodworms before feeding? I don't, but I can't remember where I read it that some people do it as a precaution 'cos it might carry parasites or something?

do your male swordtails get aggressive towards each other a lot? kind of a reversed ratio..you're better off getting more females

I leave mine in cubes - while it's on the top the bettas get their turn, while it's slowly sinking all the tetras and Discus get their share, once on the bottom it's all claimed by the GBAs and loaches...BUT i do daily water changes though

I scored some prazi off Cesarz and have been doing half strength dosages on the Discus (one coke bottle cap to every 60L), they seem fine? I'm trying beef heart (laced with metro) but they don't take it, I've chopped them into tiny bits but the Discus just won't eat it, they chew then spit out (this is the first time I'm giving them beef heart - they've been on granules).
