  1. omg... ive seen that before... read about in a really really old fish magazine.. will look again to see if i can find out what it is. looks terrible... i'd furan it any ways.
  2. just feed it to another fish... honestly furan is really expensive, and i wouldn't treat just 1 neon with it. .. not unless i had named that neon that is.
  3. feed them cat food (like eukanuba pellets. cheaper too).
  4. 15k litre cement tank with semi glass front did the gars just well.lol. It was meant to be an outdoor water feature but i couldn't pass the opportunity... I got into a lotta trouble for that.
  5. oh come on... its not that bad... lol.. they eat like pigs in the wild any ways so im sure the occasional stuffing won't hurt; and if it does you know not to do it next time
  6. that sounds horrible, lol. he shoved his head in there. next time i prune my tank, i can send you some. (you're 2 days too late - just removed a bunch or 10; 2 days ago). can send you some ludwigia too if you like. PS - i didnt know i had recent pics of my tank on there
  7. i have stitches on one hand cause of the piranhas, and nearly lost my head to the gars. mum hated the peacock bass tank cause a king fisher (bird) that she liked (and i hated) went in to get one, and never came out. Im rather happy there are no alligator gars here really. nice to look at and all but a terrifying fish.
  8. Furan, and any other broad spectrum antibiotic will be good. minimum treating period should be about 10 days. (PS - hows those plants growing?)
  9. im with you on this one henward... the feeling is somewhat "satisfying" in the least. i love it when the larger fish stuff themselves. lol... especially fish like oscars, dats, aros, and the bigger stuff. (years ago i had alligator gars and red bellies - was a lot of fun feeding them) (not in NZ ppl!).
  10. ah.... heard of this happening to another member on this site. make it eat some peas. and an epsom salt solution will be good for it. in time it should reduce in size and then vanish. if not... well then you can try withdrawing the air - but you need to know a thing or 2 about basic fish anatomy, an injection; and you need a very very steady hand. hope this helps.
  11. just search through some of my old posts.. for a pic of my tank and you'll see it.
  12. sagittaria subluta? if it grows too long, or too densley you can prune it easily.
  13. if you put in dollars, you can forget about having a planted tank, lol . if you like severums, you could get geo's firemouths, nicagurensis (spelling) cichlids.. etc... blue acaras, that sort...
  14. the red stuff? its ludwigia.
  15. im working there that sunday i think.. or is it sat? who knows. lol
  16. so wrong for all this physics talk to make perfect sense.
  17. its a squishy bug. i.e. one that must be squished
  18. i was told someone from wanganui called in about it. it was kept on hold for you till the end of the day, and i think it may have sold now (I think).
  19. yep they sure were! i was so excited i got another 405 just incase i ever needed one in the future! lol (if he put it on your club card, you would have got a voucher too, lol  )
  20. retail for 15 bucks each i think. but have to be ordered in cause they aren't too common, but come by from time to time. i got threadfins breeding too... but not with the intention of breeding them. lol.. it just happens, and then the babies get eaten by the parents and the neons, and the cory. its all very sad. lol do u collect rainbow fish? cause you can take these for 20 bucks if you like... and that'll spare them from being terrorised by the aro.
  21. I have lake Kutubu rainbowfish (Melanotaenia Lacustris) rainbows. 2 of them. both blue. though one goes half dark blue occasionally. they are terrified of the aro, who doesnt seem to care about them or the other lille fish that are in with him. Those terrariums are awesome! what size did you get? i almost got the largest one for fire belly newts that I don't have, lol.
  22. the stuff they can scratch is jute. coir is another common one that is used.
  23. Araldite will stick just about any thing... but if there isn't much surface area to stick to, you may have to repeat layers several times before an adequate bond is formed. (could take a few days before what you want is achieved) But once the bond is formed, its gonna stay there for sure.
