  1. 1kg? thats a fair bit. let us know how treatment goes. with that amount of trace, your plants will boom!
  2. very nice! the bichirs shall be even more happy now! :bounce:
  3. That's a pretty big chromide though. and the raised forehead thing is not consistent with chromides is it? plus breeding chromides isn't exactly an easy task with the whole brackish breeding thing going on.. but i dunno.. it wont be the first time I'm wrong  EDIT - Minus the green chromide.. i just checked out its profile.
  4. put some more pics up and make sure the MACRO mode on your camera is on. the button looks like a tulip. then we can ID the fishy for certain.
  5. i think you may have skipped a page.. there are 4 in this thread. page 3 shall explain it all
  6. it gets messy if you scoop water out of your tank, but i just use a siphon to get water in the bucket.i occasionally dip the bag in the water too, if all the other mugs/jugs are being used. makes no difference as the fish bag goes in a carry bag. +1
  7. I dont get it. it is relatively common practise here for some people to dip the bag in the water to get some for the fish to be in. makes life a bit easier but also is a more "wet" method  when you get your fish home the best thing to do is take a bucket - put your fish with the store water in it, and then add some water from your tank into the bucket.. keep adding more over a period of 10 - 15 minutes.. then scoop the fish out after a while and put him in your tank.
  8. she had eggs.. cant blame her for being in a bad mood  gorgeous but dead now
  9. you wouldn't need to vacuum the ground  \ Caper - glosso does not grow any taller. I'd love to try it in my tank but that would involve a total upheaval of everything in the tank.

    White spot

formalin is one of those chemicals you need to use in synergy.. meaning its best used in conjunction with wither meth green or acriflavine. Acriflavine is what I'd recommend. (We use that in a commercial environment) in most cases.... Tonic is what most people use at home. can also be used with formaldehyde... but u dont have to. I'm a bit etchy when using formalin... carcinogen and all.... tonic and salt is a good combination. do daily water changes, and top up the water with a mix of tonic and salt as appropriate. you need to remove any carbon from your filter cause it'll get rid of any medication, and you can keep the temp where it is or even at 28. neons do not like high temps in my experience though. But you have discus in the tank, so no matter what remedy you choose to select to get rid of white spot - stick with it, and dont combine a whole lot of stuff.. a chemical concoction will not go down too well with them  HTH! :bounce:
  11. +1 It shouldn't be too hard, Im sure ive seen pvc pipes for sale in hardware stores, all you need is the right diameter, or slightly smaller and then you can use the end bit from your existing siphon, and attach it onto the new pipe. worst case scenario you're looking at something that is not see through. and it probably will be cheaper... I think.

  13. yeah.. they use black silicone AFAIK... you will need a real sharp blade.. but being able to slice at that angel may be a bit of a mission. It'll have to be a long blade too.

    Hi Everyone

    :bounce: Welcome Curtis :bounce:
  20. yeah 2ft long sounds about right. may even get one that's a bit bigger - but for some reason, they are really expensive.
  21. most of those hoses will attach onto your normal garden hose/pipe, and then will become as long as your hose is. worst case scenario, you can attach the plastic siphon bit to your hose directly and silicone it there.
  22. :bounce: I for one am keenly looking forward to your next project. :bounce:
  23. Just thought I should report back... the tubes are working wonders! the tiger lotus's leaves are much broader and larger and have more red in them. It sprouts a new leaf everyday, and man does it grow fast! I can see how much its grown in a matter of a day! the sag. subulata is in heaven and there are no less than 5-6 shoots for the flowers :bounce: and even my precious anubias hastifolia - which i thought would hate bright light has managed to sprout a new leaf! :bounce: pics will follow if needed!
