Don't try it.
your water will get mucked up. go all white and terrible if it gets mixed around.
or you could try it for the fun of it - spare the fish though.
shipping can be risky sometimes, but if the fish are healthy they won't die on most occasions.
I got heaps and heaps of fish off a member in AKL and all the fish were shipped down - not one died :bounce:
on the other hand - a fair few fish die in transit for most pet shops.
the whole point of that was to sell this magic water thing.
marine fish live with freshies..... for some time at least.
and heaps of people in asia mix goldfish etc in normal tropical tanks- mainly because of the predominantly tropical climates in those countries.
how have we reached the $800 mark?
im assuming that's wholesale, but even then, the fish has to be on the wholesale supply list - which as of today it is not.
but if its $800 wholesale, i shudder to think what it would cost retail.
I agree. 404 wont cut it.
I have 2 405's on my 200L 4ft african tank.
The 404's are horrendous to get started too, making them a major pain and hassle.
sigh... that really sucks a lot.
sorry to hear about the choc zebras
as mentioned before any detectable ammonia is too much - just to be on the safe side.
but if this ever happens again you can always use ammolock- that is if you know the ammonia is off the charts. It instantly detoxifies the ammonia present and then you can do WC's to fix the problem. just remember that something like that does not fix the problem, it just masks it. so your best option is to make sure there is no ammonia in the tank in the first place.
safest bet is to have a qt tank that is cycled so you can chuck fish in there if needed.
