  1. go to an electric store and get a $5 tube (6500K - 10000K spectrum). or you can go to a pet shop and spend around $40 -$50 on 18000K tubes that i used on my plant tanks. a majority of the plant growers use the 6500K, 10000K tubes. Only a few of us use 18000K tubes. I think your anubias and java fern will be happier under the cheaper tubes. HTH Edit - just saw the other question you asked re. other plants. sag subulata (dwarf sag) should be happy with the others, if your aponogeton is doing well - try your hand at some sword plant varieties.
  2. the ~600K lambo LP640 cannot shake a ~25K ducati around the track (watch that episode of top gear its awesome). Id rather have the car- but you do not know the thrill of a bike until you have ridden a real bike. ridden bikes for a majority of my life, love them to bits but id rather have an awesome car even thought they cost a lot more.
  3. That's a cool name for a cat! (like the tank too  ).
  4. bring a 510hp beast, and ill see if i can source something more... erm... fun hahaha
  5. Mum taught me poetry as a kid. This was one of my favourites It's called High Flight Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air. Up, up the long delirious, burning blue, I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace Where never lark, or even eagle flew - And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod The high unsurpassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand and touched the face of God. -John Gillespie Magee He was a pilot if I remember correctly.
  6. wow it looks fantastic! Its a pity you are sooooooo far away or I could have convinced you to make me a few.
  7. use them both. :bounce:
  8. they were in a 4ft planted tank. the male bred with her and the other females. wrigglers were always eaten by the predators in the tank.
  9. baldness not so much - hair loss - yes sure it runs in the family. I noticed the difference! I saw the little packets and they were the normal size, opened it up and thought - hmm.. that's a wee lille midget chocolate bar - thought it was a one off. opened the next one, and it was the same, so i opened another and it was also a lille one! went to the main packaging and it says 216g and 12 pieces - that's down from 264g and 12 pieces! what do they think i would not notice? each bar is now 4g lighter and noticeably smaller. It makes me very very upset. its exam time and i need my snickers.
  10. :-? It hailed here. got me all grumpy. then it went dark, and got me grumpier; then it drizzled and that made me even more grumpy. :-? not happy with the weather today. then i found out that the snicker bars are actually smaller than they were a week ago - and they cost the same as before, so now they are even more expensive. Not happy at all.
  11. her dwarf sag came from me so is about a foot long in some places.
  12. is it going in a 5' tank or 6 or bigger?
  13. no you have to add the salt to his aquarium. not dip him in it.
  14. oh god. please re think what u just said! images!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. They are really nice b/n's and are well behaved too, only too happy to eat politely and share their courgette with each other.can't see why shops would turn them down...
  16. when you say upside down, do you actually mean upside down? can you post a pic of them? also if you add your location to your profile someone local may be able to help you out. you can do that by going to the control panel and customizing your options.
  17. hi mad rox and welcome to the forums! :bounce: I think you know the answer to this - your bossy female angel is picking on him. Best to remove her and put her somewhere else for a bit until he gets better.
  18. hi simian, I like the sound of your tanK! with the UV steriliser - you can use them on planted tanks with no problems - and since you have one, you may as well use it. I certainly would have. How often can you do water changes on the tank? If you can do many small water changes over say a week or so, it may be worthwhile having a large water storage unit or similar and pre-treat that water with phosphate remover - then use that water to top up your tank. That method however would be too much work for me personally  maybe use a phosphate remover in your filter? what sort of filter will you be using on the tank? Daltons can in some cases feed algae but keep an eye on the PO4 levels and you should be fine. Also depending on how densely the tank is planted at the time - Nitrates may not be such an issue. if you are at all concerned about initial plant growth (but it seems you have lots of good lighting) consider taking off the glass covers on the tank, and running it rimless until the plants pick up to a level that you are happy with. DIY Co2 should help as well - just keep the surface water flow as low as you can. Oh and if you do have nitrate problems just put some heavy root feeding plants in the tank, even if its just temporary. HTH, and let me know if ive missed out on any thing.
  19. OK fine then, be like that  . I take that back.
  20. im not 100% sure how to answer that  , so ill wait for the resident glass expert to answer that question
  21. araldite is the glue. im unsure if silicone will work, but if it does then use that haha not scared of rocks falling over haha. im not gentle with the way i do water changes. water either gets dumped into the tank with buckets when i feel nice like this morning or gets squirted into the tank at high pressure with a garden hose. get dave to stack the schist. hahaahahahahaa. they wont fall over then (please dont kill me, its just men are better at building things) again don't hurt me.
  22. whoa. he's huge! cool names too! :bounce:
