  1. that's really expensive! cheaper to live overseas haha
  2. it costs A LOT of money to shift animals around the globe. You can't ship em - they have to go on aeroplanes. so with snakes im guessing you would have to arrange safe premises, keep the tree huggers happy about how the snake was transported, then once it reaches back "home" quarantine over there to test for stuff can take upto 6 months. it could be a carrier of something. chances are remote but all ecosystems are fragile. so you gotta pay for the container, insurance, freight, quarantine facilities and then the lab results. then who would really pay for it? the country that deports the snake or the country receiving the snake? some countries have other problems - imagine how upset you could feel if you saw children starving on the streets and you then knew that the same money that could have gone to help them has instead gone to send 1 snake all over the world. (the use of the word "you" is not directed at any one at all, its just i didn't know how else to form the sentence. )
  3. yepp... get rid of the phosphates, and extra nutrient and it shall go away.
  4. That is the most beautiful. nicest, awesomest algae ever. I want it.
  5. ILL post a pic of it in the next few days and ask for a positive ID, and then you can let me know. Ill have to buy it from the local animates though. I Think its the stuff, but an id should confirm that.
  6. uruguansis costs about $16ea so not too bad at all.
  7. normally just pay the local FD to fill the tanks or buy a couple of trucks of water.
  8. THis is what i mean. click the image.
  9. ok. is it possible to run the water out pipe directly into the tank? if you can, just take the air pipe, without the stone, and keep it near, under the outlet of the filter. Hope that makes sense.. that should work a charm. discus don't mind airstones, or bubbles... but they don't really like change, lol.. so this is new for them and may freak them out a bit, but they will be fine.
  10. Today I got the biggest, mega-est, massiveist B/N ever! this guy is huge!!!!!!! about 15-18 cm long! Got him from wetpets in PN for $25, I thought it was a bargain! I even put more wood in the tank for them just in case. I have called him Optimus Prime I never thought they would have gotten this big
  11. are you using a spray bar or is it just flowing back into the tank via the pipe? (I prefer the direct flow into the tank myself).
  12. Hope the wee little fella conquers the disease. I really feel for you.
  13. do you have an internal filter in the tank?
  14. I've used them before in my tank at home. didn't think tooo much of it really. they last about 6 months or so, and for the price they sell for you are much better off with a wide range pH indicator that costs only $20 or so, and will last a lot longer than the badge. It is also cheaper Shops will use them as its much easier and faster to glance at the tank, and know the pH is stable than testing 30 - 40 odd tanks- its a convenience thing. HTH
  15. wow thats a really nice tank! its making me consider trying my hand at java fern! i love those cuckoo's too. I must look into getting some!
  16. yep yep HFF usually has them, as does the glenfield jensens/animates sometimes. They had some real beauties about 6 months ago... almost got them myself. people on here should also be able to help.
  17. i survived ha ha. i no longer hate you  even i have a nice video on youtube
  18. it is the price they have to pay  they are a horrible fish. maybe sell it or give it away to someone with big fish
