yes i know. as i remember my african tank sat at pH5.5 at one stage and the fish were happy as larry. now it sits at 7 - 7.5 and the fish are still happy.

yep the meds are fine with CL's and kuhlis. I have found my CL's to be the strongest fish ever. In normal doses it hasn't stained my silicone. actually come to think of it - if you get rid of the meth blue once treatment is done the silicone will not get stained. the qt tanks at work have had about 4+ years of meth blue and other treatments, and the silicone is the normal colour.

10mm base, and 6-8mm sides to be safest. side bracings should be sufficient.

meds that everyone must have at home are tonic salt, wonder tonic, and some furan or similar. I have a whole host of stuff including: salt, furan, malachite green, acriflavine, copper sulfate soln, stress coat, meth blue, quinine mixed meds, and a whole load of other stuff. I hope I never have to use any of it, but always pays to be prepared.

I only ordered in 3 of them for my display tank. if i had to i could spare one ha ha definitely try rotala though its an amazing plant

yep bring it in. im working in a bit so will swap it over with out any issues.

oh i should have made that slightly more clearer. It will only be cheaper if you get most of the accessories cheaper (like on sale) or second hand. if you, like me go in to a shop and get exactly what you want brand new, it will definitely be more expensive. so then its better off buying a ready made setup like an aquaone and getting a heater and cannister filter separately; or getting a juwel and then just getting an external filter in the future. I tried convincing lynda to get the juwel but someone doesn't like the sharp corner look aye? :lol:

custom make your own tank, to those dimensions and then choose your own lighting, filtration, heating etc. - try getting some stuff second hand, but get a good heater.
