  1. I missed all the posts concerning how to deal with said cat. were they that creative? its big. but he is not allowed a cage. we compromised and now he is allowed to sit on it at best. too many behavioural issues with him having a cage. I will get an sonic sensor and keep it outside my room. with any luck the cat should be out for good. yeah that's my biggest worry. I mean it's a cat. its what they evolved to do. If the now old flatmates decide to stop paying the extra $25 per week the liability falls on the current flatmates as in the tenancy agreement. so me, and the three other people. It is an expensive house - 3 bedrooms and $370pw. expenses are $25pw and that does not include food so not everyone can afford the rent there. I found the house, and it was because of me that we were able to rent the house (as you can imagine there is a terrible stigma with student renters). but i still got everyones names on the tenancy agreement just in case of legal liability like this.
  2. grrr. im in auckland, away from where I live in palmy on holiday for about 10 days. 2 of my flatmates are moving out, which is fine, but they got a couple that I have not really been able to meet to move in, transferred their names on to the NZ tenancy agreement, and everything. I knew nothing of this. what's more is they are making the new people pay only $150 per week in rent, instead of $175, and say that they(original flatmates) will pay $25 per week - course they are not legally obligated to do so now that the contract is no longer in their name. then it gets worse. just got told a few mins ago - surprise you have new flatmates. oh also - they love fish and have a cat!!! fine, but im allergic to cats. can't have em in the house. ich all over, can't breathe and can't sleep. then there is rusty. I can't have a darn cat live with a bird in the house, if im not home during the day!!!  what the hell were they thinking!!!!!!!! I HATE THEM!! SOOOOO ANGRY!! they also broke my washing machine, so i have to fix that. and now there will be no fridge come to 7th of august. grr. but what about my rusty rust? can't have him living with a feral cat!!! I like cats, but doesn't mean i want them, and they eat birds!! its what they are meant to do. for crying out loud. I specifically said, they MUST NOT HAVE A CAT!!!! they kept it a secret all this time, and got them to do the paper work when i was out of time. damn sneaky ....... ......(insert the worlds worst profanities here_)....
  3. I got two  so none for her. they are of the secret variety. still need to ID them, so wil post pics when I get them back with me to palmy. I did how ever go and check up on a few of my other fish and plants up here in AKL, glad to report they are doing well. man the panaque is big. auckland is filled with aponogeton crispus. almost all the shops have it! almost asked for some from a display tank. and then remembered I dont have a "planted" tank any more... no fair.
  4. Me three  flip flop fish do not make happy fish
  5. oh neither  welcome H20Vitamins
  6. oh god. I think you're better off with the normal guillotine style pet nail clippers. They can be used on animals like birds and cats, dogs, marine puffers.. etc. etc.
  7. oh also bought some fancy plecos  and i think i may get half a dozen cuckoo synos. this holiday business is expensive. * wonders where else I can go and see fishy stuff in AKL.
  8. holiday is great. eating at every single restaurant and hotel we can find, lol. Lunch and dinners out every day ahhahahahahaha. awesome stuff. I miss my lille rusty bird though. I think ill come back on wed night... I think.
  9. the lights on the blue planets will surprise you. you can grow crypts, small swords, ambullia, etc all quite well in them. HTH
  10. hey I'm nice! the ladies tend to like me too  I'm always nice to people. just ask any one!
  11. bugger. \that sucks. sorry about the loss... those dats are awesome predators that's for sure.
  12. you will kill your fish. the pH will drop incredibly fast. fish will start breathing heavily and then die. think of the acidity and thus the pH.
  13. better off getting it off these forums. im sure LOTS of people here have that stuff, and may even be chucking it away LOL
  14. hows about a planted tank with some firemouths or something like that?
  15. it worked for me like 2 minutes ago
  16. Im not surprised at all really. those guys eat a lot of fish that's for sure. they are so pretty though. hope you breed them.
  17. oh I did. the whole tank is covered, but they discovered the space in the corner where the filter pipes go in the tank  funny thing is they in an uncovered tank in the shop and never jumped silly fish.
  18. maybe i can help.  There was 1 male and 5 females - male is pretty flirty and tries breeding with all the females. they will devour smaller fish like neons and guppies, and will wreck havoc in a tank with small fish. Them and the american flag fish are the only killies in store. Im glad to see they went to a nice home , that male had really nice colours. the last batch i got home, all decided that the life of a carpet fish was more fun
  19. Id recommend a red sea max. its a neat unit with a skimmer and most of the essentials. might cost a bit more that $1200, but is designed well, and you can have fish and some corals, as long as you choose your corals well.
  20. rock like schist can be bought cheaply from a landscaping place.
