  1. given my history with women im actually happy that im single! all those hormones drive me up the wall! and the mood swings! gah! i have clean clothes now! did 2 machine loads full at ang's house. not that i ran out of clothes, lol. i had a boot full of worn clothes from my trip to auckland and a wardrobe full too many clothes. LOL still its only a week and then I think the laundry situation should be sorted.

    Lighting

the right lighing is important. some tubes you can use are 6500K 10000K 15000K 18000K the first 2 are the most common and popular. i use the last 2. lights on at 7.30 am lights off at 8.30pm sometimes depending on what i am doing with the plants, i give them exposure to other spectra at different times of the day. good and the right light, fertilizers be it in the soil or in the water depending on the plants and substrate.

    Hi there

you forgot other such complementary adjectives like handsome, charming, delightful.... the list goes on  I will not be doing any following though ha ha. aren't we a friendly bunch?
  4. you put the pipe that releases the CO2 into water suction bit of the cannister pipe. the bubble gets sucked up by the filter, impellor breaks the bubble down, and it diffuses into the water through the cannister chambers etc.
  5. bud sounds awesome. remember sam, no matter what any one tells you - no mirrors EVER. pet shops sell budgies, its best getting a young one from a breeder if you can. only get one from a shop if you do not want to hand rear it, or it comes hand reared. here's that pic I promised
  6. yes 1 better than 2 when you train them. see how it goes. I have big hands so budgies are out of the question for me  very easy to train though. ill post a pic when i get back home.
  7. that is a physical impossibility.
  8. vinson massif built his own cage (its not for him im sure) for his lorkieet. I don't build things... not in my DNA ha ha. I'd say get a larger cage cause you will have to fill it with toys, food, water etc. could even get 2 budgies as they are quite loving.
  9. november is when the tenancy on the house expires, and at that point any one in the house can choose to extend the tenancy as needed. I just want the current flatmates out of the house ASAP so we can get back to normality. once the phone and net is sorted, everything else will fall into place. the new flatmates incidentally have a fridge and a washing machine too.

    Hi there

are you by any chance the same lad that likes long walks on the beach and sunsets? don't listen to me, LOL... hahah  welcome post pics of your tanks sometime, i would like to know how your planted tank project goes. PS- what sort of catfish?
  11. what is all this small parrot talk? what you need is a conure. or a cockatoo. guaranteed to drive you mad. I'd have a love bird, but that's cause i know i can train it to shut up and not whistle all day. I'd say get a budgie- they can talk a lot, infact the bird with the world record on largest vocab is a budgie (8000 words or so). get a baby, hand rear it, and teach it pointless tricks  that will keep it mentally stimulated. they are not that messy either, and you can try and potty train them too. not to mention they are not as demanding. bud is caryl's budgie
  12. ah stella. yes i do feel honour bound, and if i don't have honour i don't have any thing. the new flatmates works for the PNCC and her partner is a chef of some sort. perhaps he has a nice cat recipe up his sleeve after speaking to the new flatmate (the girl) i understood that the cat would stay out, and she was perfectly fine with that. i don't mind cats, (infact ive got 2 in auckland) I'd just rather not have them around cause of the bird and allergies that I have- which is part of the reason i dropped out of vet school. the new flatmates are technically not the new flatmates until the 8th of this month. I agreed to let them in on the tenancy, and their previous landlord gave them a good reference, and i got my current landlord to check it out too.
  13. I can't just move out ryan, its only till the end of november any how so its not that long. ill need to find a flatmate for my room first, then get all my stuff, shift everything, the tank etc. not worth it at all. the new cat that is coming is only going to be outdoors steph, so that should not be too much of an issue either. me moving out will only cause more troubles for my 1 remaining good flatmate and myself - i have assignments and studies to catch up on so ill be kept busy for the next few months... I feel sorry for the cat too, but its always been an outdoor cat so this is no different to it. plus i can always arrange for them to get it a nice warm bed in the garage or something. fridge was turned off this morning, so i made a small fridge with a poly box, salt, water and ice. it has my malibu, sour cream and milk in it. just the essentials. Am doing a load or 2 of washing at foxxja's house tonight. if i need a dryer animates has a real nice one i can use. All my meat and frozens are at animates, so many thanks to them for letting me take over the freezer for a week or so  the new faltmates (ive only met the girl) seem nice; they are not aware of any of what is going on. which is good in a way. as long as my vodafone provides the phone fast, and slingshot provides the internet fast I will be a happy chappy. I can eat out everyday until then at the moment im at uni with the net and doing my assignments and stuff, so its alite for now. Just waiting for this week to get over, I really can't be bothered dealing with much more of this rubbish . I don't get human behaviour sometimes, especially the vindictive kid of behaviour. rather live with a dog any day!
  14. eww  each to their own i guess  AlpHabet
  15. LOL. they are going to have 6'4" of rage today if they talk to me about flat stuff!!! not happy at all. well im going to store some stuff in a friends house. im doing my laundry at foxxja's place tonight   i can do my drying at animates if i absolutely have to. ha ha. have work at the bank tomorrow and noticed all my pants are in the dirty pile (which is quite big now considering the lack of washing machines) sandra I may have to take you up on that offer for a few days until the new faltmates move in, ill txt you im making a make shift fridge with poly boxes, ice and salt. that should hold till tomorrow morning, i just want my cheese and milk in there. the other stuff can be stored elsewhere. FLATMATES from hell any one think?
  16. ive only found melafix to be effective only if the fish has a scratch or a minor wound. if its bacterial use an antibiotic.
  17. I can't possibly lower myself to their level. It's not me. but the world has a mysterious way of working and these things sort themselves out in time.
  18. Just when I thought it was all sorted, they sunk to a new low today. the 2 flatties moving out were supposed to disconnect the net and phone on the 21st of last month. BUT didnt because they couldn't be bothered. so what they did today is they disconnected the internet and phone, after 6.30pm without telling any one. we couldn't sort our phone and net until theirs was disconnected, so now we are sitting ducks for the next 7 business days. all this when my assignments are due in. to make matters worse, they said we have to remove our stuff from the fridge tomorrow as they are taking the fridge out. they were supposed to do this on the saturday coming up. some people are just spiteful. the new flatmates are only moving in on the 8th so no fridge till then, i guess. on the brightside they will have to live with me without my morning coffee... not good at all. the second washing machine is also broken. so no phone, no internet that is our own, no washing machine, and no fridge. my kind neighbour has allowed me to use her net for the next few days, but the signal is usually off or low. so its not totally functional, but at least its something.
  19. yeah each case is individual so the same approach cannot be used all the time. hope the mother will be ok.
  20. LOL. i know im not supposed to hold them like that, but I just grabbed them, took 2 pics of each one, chucked them into the bag - packed them up and drove 550km to palmy straight after, so it was all done in a rush ha ha. (only used one hand to handle the fish as the other hand was holding the camera)
