  1. Do you really like the juwel? you could get a 4ft tank made perfectly, stand to match, t5 HO lights, fluval/eheim cannister filter, substrate etc etc all cheaper and brand new. I think you would be able to fit the tank in a car(toyota camry sedan sized or similar), with the kit set stand in the boot. then you have to assemble it.
  2. The prices are the same nationwide.
  3. Its a rio 300! just have a foreground of glosso and some rocks. The tank would be a little too hot for natives without a chiller - but that's a neat idea if you like native fish. I would have a catfish tank. - pictus cats, whiptails, plecos, cories. Doesn't need to be heavily planted, but you sure do have the lights to grow just about anything you want. Hows that parrot of yours doing?
  4. there is no cover on the tank, so without the HOB a really horrible protein layer forms mixed with dust etc. it looks terrible, and is a right pain to get rid of even the eheim is positioned to create maximum surface agitation. sorta defeats the purpose of CO2 but no other option for the moment
  5. I think they let phil do it as he is commercial, and should know what he is doing. I think now the rules are not being enforced in a draconian way its much nicer here.
  6. Yes. they are happy. I bought a new flake that sinks to the bottom immediately, and now they come out for a second, gobble some food and then run away again
  7. I cannot believe you dragged this thread back up There are e. yellow babies both in the main tank and in a rearing tank. they are from the same batch. 6-8 are in the main tank, and 20 are in a rearing tank. They are about 1-1.5cm long. There is one holding dem, but my luck breeding them is not fash. There are also 8 snow whites in the tank now. I am hoping to breed them in the future. Thanks to Mel I have some very beautiful Lionhead / Lumphead Cichlids. They hide a lot though
  8. Thanks man! I can't wait for all the glosso to take over the bottom.
  9. i see this at the pet shop all the time. forgotten what its called though
  10. I think they use a laminate for the wood coloured ones. its good quality stuff, but since i didn't personally search for the prices, but got a phone quote I wouldn't guarantee it.
  11. orchids and peace lillies do really really well. the colour and the shape of the peace lilly leaf would look amazing in any tank like that.
  12. gutted! I was keenly following this thread as well. That really sucks
  13. It has got to be the messiest thing to work with ever. Looks amazing though. I might get my next tank done in black or colourless silicone (uv)
  14. Lots! :bounce: Moving the tanks is not going to be fun though. Done! But if I don't get the job I want then ill do my postgrad and masters for the next 2 years.
  15. if it rattles there is something wrong with it
  16. The retail price of the tank is $1799 and the stand/cabinet is $440 for the wood finishes and $590 for the black ones. The pricing differentials on the stands confuses me a little though, there should not really be a difference that is so apparent. HTH
  17. The normal coloured long fins ones have just started hitting the market. Not what you would call "rare"; but 2 months ago they certainly were  It's a good thing that they have come back. I wonder if any one has managed to breed the albino golden long fins from billaneys ex. breeding pair.
  18. you mean he swims to the top of the tank vertically and real quick, does a quick splash and goes back down? - cause that's normal. if he is trying to climb out - that is plain weird.
  19. I'm waiting for it to grow too :bounce: That is crypt wendtii Red. The Crypts won't be in this tank - they are only here to grow for a bit.
  20. which smaller round leaf plant alan? the only other i have in there is glosso I agree with you - it is not banana plant, but that means that i have to find its bulb in my daltons tank. that's going to be a pain. If i do find my banana plant, ill have to get a couple of leaves are propagate them through there.
  21. phew. if it was, i wouldhave found my self a new hobby. can you imagine that?
