  1. I would listen to barrie cause he is the glass merchant. if its possible to tank off 10cm straight off; that would be easier than to take it to pieces.
  2. they look like little piggies :bounce: your updates are making me even more determined to get a whole load of them.
  3. If it has a stand, you would be better off taking 10cm off the stand. Otherwise, you would have to remove every panel of glass, cut it or get it cut appropriately, and then resilicone it together. it would probably be easier and cheaper to just get another tank.
  4. so much for journalism skills
  5. Let me know how you go; I had some shivering and covering going on yesterday, but they are still smallish. I think I need more of them. Im thinking a total of 12, so over summer ill get 4 more. Is it relatively easy to sex them? I can sort of see some differences in the fins.
  6. you guys are too kind . there is plenty room for improvement! That green tubing for one will vanish when i move the tank in 22 days or so. Not sure what else can be done, but any other suggestions would be much appreciated. (There will be no substrate in this tank though; there is no point.).
  7. I have seen that tank somewhere before. cant remember where, but the corals, wood and sand look incredibly familiar!
  8. something with protein in it and lots of vitamins. I know they like hikari cichlid gold (got to be the best and cheapest thing you can feed them) colour bits arowana pellets flake food - could be any flake blood worms are nutritionally devoid. they are good to use for soaking in meds and that garlic guard thing henward likes using.
  9. I reckon you should drive to chch. seriously!
  10. That's what I thought too. Thanks for the confirmation. I was a little taken aback by hybrid comments. but they seem like what they should be.
  11. Almost forgot my Clown Loaches . (There are about 15 in the tank all up).
  12. Its a bit messy at the moment, cause I haven't had a lot of time to look after it during exam time but: hope its alright!
  13. I personally like dark wood colour the best, then the black, and then the light coloured one.
  14. Thanks guys! The plants are thriving. the fern has some bba on it, but I think it looks beautiful and natural. Ill take a few pics of the ferns with their babies all over the place. It is working amazingly so far. the filter never gets clogged with plant debris or any thing. I even had some rotala in there for a while and they didnt touch it. The crypts are also left alone.
  15. he is tiny! very nice present though. Happy Birthday as well? :bounce:
  16. bloodworms are not a good food for them. i only feed mine proper fish food, and keep them in packs of 12 or more.
  17. you should get at least 12 or so. more in a 300L tank. I would overstock them - good filtration- and then sell the naughty ones as you like later on.
  18. dubosis are only like 20bucks a piece, ikolas are 30. I like the dubosis the best (yellow band) maybe cheaper for a bulk deal?
  19. At least 450L oscars get big and are messy. minimum 5ft tank, 1.5 wide (wider the better), and 1.8 foot high.
  20. LOL. I miss my plants. That's why I filled up the african tank with plants. Now im happy as, and so are the fish. :bounce:
  21. i got my 4 footer in my camry. just put the front seats forward and sit them upright, get the tank in, and readjust the seats as normal. it fit fine. but there was no room in the car apart from the front seat. pays to get a bigger car, than reach there only to have to turn back. The juwels are great tanks. A rimu stand and hood costs a grand and should have the same visual impact if not better though. I'd got for the juwel as its convenient though.
