  1. Do you have any idea what you like? Watch this video. Any parrot owner must watch this - Are you ready for a 20+ year commitment in some cases?
  2. some barbs from Asia, sure. Cories from South America; not so much. A true cold water fish will thrive in an unheated tank in winter when the temps get into the single digits.
  3. sometimes its best not to complain about them being mislabelled. Some fish aren't allowed in here. Many catfish and plecos make it here because they are brought in under a generic name.
  4. no, its only if you hand rear them and are giving the parents a helping hand (or wing)
  5. Ngaw!!! Dare you to put your finger there! (Don't do that) Kaytee hand rearing formula is the best on the market. Feed the parents well too. What is the temp like?
  6. They were probably steel blues. The real umbrellas haven't been here in yonks. Yellow cheeks came here though, and they also were not all that spectacular. Steel blues were imported as and sold as borellii.
  7. also google "breeding zebra danio" Plenty to be found by using the search on here too
  8. I'd get a 5000. Remember to run it at at least 5bps. Also look at getting a bubble counter.
  9. I'm pretty sure you can get solenoids that are compatible with both 110 and 220V. They have inbuilt adaptors like many other appliances. I'd recommend a Rhinox (large) on your tank casey. It will be better. That's the diffuser and can be bought from Ebay.
  10. He is a member on here with many many CLs. Least he used to have many.
  11. I'd have offered it a home too
  12. Very cool! Wonder how many R32 had at the peak.
  13. Then there are the other aspects of stress as well. Ich does well in cold water and if the fish is stressed, you could just be fighting a never ending battle with Ich. Not worth it in my opinion. I know some cories do well at 21-23C. In winter cold water tanks would surely get colder than 18C. I know they get down to 7-12 degrees indoors down here.
  14. I am not getting into another coldwater debate on here Josh. Do as you wish.
  15. over millions and millions of years overcoming geographic barriers. maybe you need to read a little more about evolution...
  16. evolve? No they cannot. If by evolve you mean survive, I'd be more likely to accept that unwillingly. again, temperate not cold water. tell them that.
  17. Well mountain minnows, shubinkins, black moores, calicos, leopard fish. As ryan said, 20C at lowest possibly. That's relatively temperate. It is not coldwater. These fish are tropical. S. American and all. Would you put your clown plecos in cold water?
  18. NO. No no no no no. Now repeat after me. NO no no no no.
  19. Here we go again  Cories never have and never will be coldwater fish. Some, not all can survive in cooler, often temperate water.
  20. The trick is not to have many unscaped tanks, but a few and selected well done tanks.

    Slug

yuck! What on earth is it doing in your tank?
  22. not quite... but different take on the matter I suppose.
  23. It's chilled in the catfish section
