  1. Not worried about the Malawi's, mainly interested in the tropheus and other tangs. I'll flick you a PM when I've got an evening free!
  2. They all pale in comparrison to Strongbad's Emails! http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail.html Trogdor is a classic, Guitar and techno are good too!
  3. Awesome!! I'd love to come check out your collection some time, given that we're both in Mt Wellington...
  4. They're great little fish, not quite up there with convicts in sheer attitude, but still pretty feisty! I hope the breeding is going well Afrikan, I'll definitely be down on Queens Birthday weekend. 8)
  5. Could possibly do a couple of Gymnogeophagus balzani, or Archocentrus sajica (if you can get hold of them). A few plants and some driftwood, plus some cories for the cleanup crew.... 8)
  6. I agree with conch about the non-fish related stuff, sometimes its good to do stuff like that just to socialise a bit more. But as for the meeting, my general thoughts would be to keep the official [boring] stuff to a bare minimum and cut to the chase with an interesting guest speaker, slideshow, whatever. I'm bordering on leaving another [not-fish-related] society because of its long drawn-out meetings, run by a bunch of old retired people who still like to pretend they are important. The first half of the meeting consists of the president and the secretary droning on about nothing in particular, then there's a way-too-long interval/cup-o-tea period for all the oldies to socialise, then finally you get to hear the speaker. Keep the meetings short, punchy and to-the-point and you'll be right. BTW, do people actually catch their fish and bring them along to the meetings in a bag/jar/bucket to show everyone?!?!!!
  7. This guy might struggle a bit; Pretty gross IMO, the orandas look much nicer, although they're still not really my thing...
  8. I feed uncooked broken prawn meat.
  9. Again, I think your fish is disagreeing with you. Duncan7's male texas claimed his entire 4' tank as his territory, and I'm sure in the wild they would defend an area a bit bigger than half a 5' tank.
  10. If ever you get sick of him eating fry I'm sure he won't mind living with my lot!!
  11. And only $11.00 for a kg of frozen prawns at Silver Bell in Panmure. You just have to brave the smell of their seafood department to get them...
  12. Um, it wouldn't? The only thing in my tank is the return pipe from the sump... :-?
  13. For me it would have to be clown loaches or our male pink convict, although with the convict its more attitude than character!!
  14. What pellets are you trying to feed? My smaller ones will eat the hikari sinking carnivore pellets, but shrimp and beef heart etc is cheaper!
  15. Um, I think this is way of telling you there isn't plenty of room for territories. What are the tank mates?
  16. Cheers, Afrikan has just PM'd me, can't wait to get some!! 8)
  17. They've got massive mouths eh, and yet still their eyes are sometimes bigger than their stomachs!
  18. Hey Rob, haven't seen you on here for ages!! Do you still have your sajica/T-bar cichlids??? I've been trying to track some down for ages. Sorry for the sidetrack!
  19. Cool pix, I'm loving the fat bichirs!! Are they both boys?
  20. Mine is on the output of the filter, and I recently noticed algae growing in the clear pipe right after the outlet of the UV steriliser!! Does this mean its not working properly?
  21. Funny, I've named the miniature clever I use for cutting up shrimp and other fish food (Chopper), but I've never named any of my fish....
  22. Apparently they can get quite predatory before spawning, going after smaller fish that they have otherwise left alone.
  23. Bingo. Its funny with my group of them, there is one that is a bit bigger than all of them and he's obviously at the head of the pecking order, but there are always battles going on to see who is second!
  24. I got rid of my oscar because I couldn't feed my clown loaches. It would eat all the shrimp pellets until its mouth was stuffed full and it would vomit them up. Then start eating them again along with the gravel.
  25. ^ Best option. I'd never buy one of those do-it-all canisters, what happens if the impeller breaks, you're left with no filtration and no light! Also, how do they work, if they're circulating enough water to filter the tank then its probably going way too fast for the UV...
