  1. Just found this site which has photo's of Marbled Queen Swords and am almost certain this is the plant in my tank except in a pond it looks ugly but my plant I reckon is beaut lol :- http://www.ausyfish.com/marble_queen_sword.htm Doesn't say if it flowers though?
  2. Thanks Alan & Navarre Yes Alan, you're right, if I'd chopped the bottom and mid leaves off all I'd see would be stalks and I only took lids off tank because it got so high and wanted to see if it flowered....do you know if it flowers? And if I cut the emerged stalks off will tis stunt growth so I can put lids back on when weather is cooler?
  3. Kinda hexagonal..definately not just round Have looked up Marbled Sword and Echindorus Cordiflora but neither of these..appreciate your help
  4. Thanks Navarre What does the E. stand for? Just did a google for E. Cordiflora and nothing matched my plant?
  5. :bounce: Now I got it sussed...here's some more pics of plant and flower stalk
  6. Can anyone help identify this triffid please? I've had this plant from about 3-4cms in height and am amazed at how quickly it's grown in 7 months but have never bothered identifying it, just appreciated it's beauty BUT now it's starting to grow out of the tank and has shot out a flower stalk so would like to identify it so I can see what the flowers will look like
  7. Have found all the mollies I've had very active but peaceful fish with very healthy appetites What colour are yours?

  9. Can't speak from personal experience even though I'm a Sony fan but 2 friends have bought Sony Bravia TV's in the last month and the colour, clarity and sound is fantastic
  10. TAUPO...Lived in Taupo many years, Local Pet Shop (The Taupo Pet Shop in Oruanui Rd) has awesome owners who're very helpful. Horse Hire heading north out of town between Taupo and Wairakei. Also out that way take first right past Horse Hire on main highway and follow road out to Prawn Farm, Bee & Honey Shop, Huka Jet (super fast ride and 360's up Waikato River) and there's a great woodturning shop on our way back to the main highway. I used to work down at the boat harbour so know that over summer they have day and night cruises and fishing trips of varying prices, some take you round to the the maori rock carvings whichcan only been seen from the water. Along the lake front there's the Hole In One Floating Golf and next to that is a Jet Ski Hire. There are hot pools, AC Pools and DeBretts Thermal Pools up Napier Taupo Highway. If you're an adrenilin junky there's the Bungy Jump up Spa Road and at Taupo Airport there are 2 Skydiving Operators (have done a skydive at highest altitude and can totally recommend it) and Parasailin on Lake Taupo. Back out on SH1 heading north there's Helistar Helicopters (awesome owners Bruce & Nicole Lilburn) and can tell you firsthand that the trip round the lake and across Mts Ruapehu, Ngauruahoe and Tongariro is well worth the price. Heaps of great restaurants, takeway bars and pubs. And if none of the above suits maybe just relax and have a dip in Lake Taupo, really refreshing on a hot day.....ENJOY YOUR TRIP

  17. What about a breeding net hung near water inflow? If you don;t have one you can come round and pick one up from me
  18. Lol! about your comment "a violence free home in your community tank"...it can happen in any tank when spawning occurs so I;ve been told, seem to recall you said there were a few "turf wars" in your tank when you added all your rams in with the cockatoos and then your male died so could have been the same thing or stress....I was just very unlucky that my beauty boy got munched real bad. As it appears to be a sensitive issue with some people on forum naming breeders of certain fish I'll send you a PM with name of who our ones came from...Good Luck!!
  19. Congrats Lauren...that's awesome news :bounce: Hope you get fry this time
  20. Thanks Ryan...will stick with the one pair I've got now..glad I got 2 pairs now as I really want to breed these and then maybe try another type of dwarf cichlid Amy...will PM you
  21. RYAN....Good Luck!! Hope you get wrigglers fom this batch
  22. IT WAS A SAD DAY!! I was so gutted I didn't put a posting to say the male in my community tank died last Sunday.....believe it or not I reckon it's due to spawning Gardneri Blue Killies in the same tank as he had a big chunk out of his tail and dorsal fins...long story but 6 male deaths in that tank in 10 days, the last being a Dwarf Neon Rainbow I spotted being chased relentlessly round the tank by one of the GB males already with a huge chunk out of hs tail aswell blah blah so am in the throws of trying to find 3ft tank plus plants to set up as a killifish display tank and put all my killies in it which will give me 2 free breeding tanks aswell BEFORE I say yes to your female Amy, I'd like to find out from someone if the 2 females and 1 male can happily co-exist in the one breeding tank, approx 30 litres, I reckon yes but am only a newby
  23. 3rd Time Lucky Hopefully.....Just noticed that Mum has laid eggs again, this time in the Terracotta Pot so here's hoping
