  3. Am hoping someone may be travelling Wellington/New Plymouth/Wellington or coming down from New Plymouth to Wellington who can PLEASE pick up some fish in New Plymouth and deliver to me in Lower Hutt?? Food and drink served upon arrival with fish

  5. Mark...Here's Hoping Cichlid...Both lots of eggs my females have laid were a light brown/terracotta type colour so not sure if that's any help to you Amy & Dave.....BUMMER about your male ...would you like to sell me your female to keep my lonely male company? OR is there anyone out there whose coming down this way who could pleeeease help out Amy & I?
  6. All eggs eaten, checked tank and no wrigglers either so "never say die", will keep trying
  7. Thanks! Not sure who the culprit is...maybe clown loaches coz mum took over their cave..the holes were quite tiny, like pin head size, am guessing they weren''t bite marks the dad is swimming round looking for her I'm sure otherwise he's moved on and looking for another mate :-?
  8. Went looking for mum in the community tank and found her dead...when I fished her out she had a couple of tiny holes in her so am guessing she probably took on someone who fought back..am really gutted. On a happier note...Day 2 and the eggs are still in the breeding tank with other mum steadfastly guarding them and dad looking on from a great distance
  9. Was told by two different people who've bred them not to tamper or remove the eggs...easier to shift one or both parents. The female can be left in with eggs and sometimes both parents aswell, really depends on the pair...and was told that when fry hatch the Mum is more protective of the fry and sometimes even shifts the fry round in her mouth...so many different stories/ways of breeding I guess it's really just trial and error and lots of patience
  10. Yours will lay again...mine only took 10 days to lay again so you haven't got long to wait PLUS the eggs haven't hatched YET...am feeding her live food so hopefully she won't munch the eggs this time
  11. Now that I've FINALLY got the pick of Mum and eggs on forum I've noticed there are way more than the 40+ eggs I mentioned earlier as she's laid on two walls of the cave YAHOO!! Now the countdown begins
  12. Great photos Bilbo and Amy Wish I could suss out how to put photo's on here...might have another try coz GUESS WHAT......YAHOO!!! Went to feed my pair in garage and was greeted by one very yellow mum staring out of their cave...shone the torch in and there's about 40+ eggs so hopefully this time I'll get babies I took a photo of the eggs but not nearly as good as the ones you've all put on here...now I know what I want for Christmas lol
  13. Awesome news Bilbo :bounce: :bounce: GOOD LUCK!! Got any photo's?
  14. DAVE & AMY...One of my pairs the male sometimes guarded the cave where their eggs were..almost like he was giving her some time out coz when she came back he took off again lol LAUREN...Try to PM Bilbo...he knows the breeder of the ones we all bought and may be able to help There's photo's of one of my pairs on a thread I posted a few days before this..got Ryan to put them on as I'm still not able to suss out how to put them on DOH!! Would be great if we all end up with fry to raise and I'd be over the moon as I've only bred guppies so far and about to attempt killifish :bounce:

  16. Good Luck MarkLB.....was amazed the first time my female went that yellow and being a newby thought there was something wrong with her DOH!!
  17. Congrats Ryan :bounce: I hope one of us has some fry soon..keep us posted please Both my females are fattening up nicely so it may be a case of "Let's try that again"
  18. OLLY - Oh B***** about your wrigglers but here's hoping next time you're successful AMY & DAVE....Removing the male is personal choice really....some pairs look after their young, in other cases the male or female or both eat the eggs or fry whn they hatch so it's really just a matter of what fits with the pair you have....I don't speak from experience as I'm a newby aswell but have read quite a bit on the internet and also Bilbo here on forum who knew the breeder of the pairs I have.
  19. How's the wrigglers Olly? If they're still alive can you please put a photo on forum? :-)
  20. :bounce: Will keep my fingers crossed for ya Olly
