  1. they grow pathetically slowly, in my experience. I bred dwarf honey gouramis and blue dwarfs and they both grew way slower than anything else I've bred

does it taste like beer? (Student thinking here  )
  3. What do I need to make a planted tank work?
  4. I'm thinking about buying some flourish excel to make my plants grow faster and keep algae at bay. I'm wondering if people who use it think it's worth it. Do you follow the dosage instructions in this advert? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pets-animals/Fish/Water-treatment/auction-204693769.htm If not, what dosage rates and frequencies do people use? Thanks in advance
  5. I was looking hard at those
  6. I'm thinking about buying a 15cm Jack dempsey in Auckland, but the owner doesn't know how to post it to me What should I tell them to do? Could anyone from Waitakere City post it for me at my expense? Or does anyone local(ish) have something similar that I could buy instead? It doesn't have to be a JD, but it needs to be able to handle an oscar long term
  7. Yup.......and screaming You wouldn't think a 13yr old huntaway with arthritis in his shoulders would be capable of that would you
  8. I have three farmdogs, and two of them eat sheep poo all day and then dont eat their dinner so they get hungry the next day and eat more poo which makes them too full for dinner (edited) The third one eats goats but other than that hes good and eats only his dinner
  9. I went for a walk in the Boundary Stream reserve near lake Tutira recently and met a wild pair
  10. Both the joint list and boot sales sound like interesting ideas :bounce:
  11. my flatmate had a nightmare that the tanks overflowed until they filled up the house, and then the oscars chased her
  12. as a 10yr old kid I was attacked by my best mate's guard dog my mate was inside and I showed up at his house, but the dog got me before he knew I was there. It leapt up and bit my face, knocking me to the ground. It then bit my head and neck repeatedly. the dog was an argentinian dago and it would have killed me if I hadnt yelled so my mate came outside and called it off. I still have a few scars on my head 10yrs later. It was a wonderfully bahaved dog and stopped instantly when told to, but when no one was there to tell it to stop, it wasnt going to. The problem with a dog trained to attack people is that you cant be with it 24/7, and if a friend comes by without you realising, or without you being there, then the s**t could hit the fan in a very bad way, it almost did with me, even though I had met the dog 100 times before, it had never been without my mate there (or his sister )
  13. They didn't survive the move as far as I can tell, but the pair look like they might have another go soon. I didnt think to take a photo, but they just look like wrigglers same as any other wrigglers
  14. This is at my parents farm on dialup
  15. Why would anyone want an attack trained dog??
  16. in my little breeding tank, i put some of those bricks that have holes in them. This gives them HEAPS of little caves to choose from - they/she chose the highest one? I didnt remove the male as I was moving flat and didn't have time to move him. He stayed away from her when she had eggs and wrigglers, but didn't look too scared of her. The wrigglers I saw were pale creamy colour
  17. i counted 19wrigglers this morning before I moved their tank to my new flat, havnt looked since, but am not hopeful
  18. mine are still there are they hard to raise?
