i thought i could get away without the lenghtways braces but now im not too sure. Do you think perspex will be strong enough for the long braces? glass down here is so expensive.

lol yea but i think there are a little short. There is a gap of 4mm between the braces and the tank so the silicone has filled in the gap. not too sure how well the centre brace will hold. the silicone myt stectch not sure how to fix it without buying another piece of glass.

Tank has been resealed and braces added so soon so it should hopefully be full of water by the end of the weekend. I ended up keeping the tank how it is with the wider footprint :roll:

Yes i thought this too. But unless i can find the floor space in my house then it has to be taller than it is wide unfortunatly. And i also have the perfect stand for it if its on its side.

Oh i see. I will tank to my tank maker and see what he can do Also i was looking at some pictures of your tank. What are the bigger leafed sword like plays you have in there? Are they H.stricta?

lol i was waiting for you to post P44 Ive got the list of plants now, thanks. Now 1st thing i have to do is get the tank sorted. It needs resealed. how will i brace the top and have a rimless at the same time? is it possible? the glass is 10mm thick all round.

I have been wanting to do a big planted tank but i only have a 5ft long x 2ft wide x 1.5ft high. I am going to turn it on its side and get a front put on it and bracing added. so it will be 5ft long x 1.5ft wide x 2ft high I want to get some rocks and wood built up high covered in plants and some taller plants as well. I have also found an awesome log that has a lot of potential and I want to incorperate in some how I have growing, to put in it so far: Java moss Xmas moss Anubias Java fern Narrow leaf java fern frilled java fern and a few crypts Substrate... Ill be getting some of that nutrient rich gravel to go under the main gravel too. Can't remember the name of it now. Lighting... 20000k 26w T5 bulbs and 2x growlight bulbs for inhabitants... I'm thinking a large school of tetras and either a few altum angels or a small school of discus. Having a tall tank, it should be perfect for angels or discus. I also have GBAs and normal BNs to go in there. I have always wanted a shoal of cories so that may possibly happen as well. So does anyone have any ideas of other tall plants etc or fish i could put in here? Thanks Si

I don't really want to lose anymore fish so I will try add extra JBL balls under the roots and see how they go from there.

I use black background and with the brighter yellows and blues over a white substrate, they seem to stand out a lot more. Plus some java fern and anubias on the coral rock, and when the algae sets in on the rocks also, they don't always look so white.

I have use Excel before i put the val in here, for the other plants, but my tetras were slowly dying off so i stopped using it. Even the smallest doses of excel seemed to effect the fish

Thats weird because i replaced the bulbs 2 weeks after i put these in and then they started to go white as if the new light was too much for them. And i have val growing better in less light. maybe nutrient deficiency? What nutrients do you think i could add to help if this is the case. I want to try a few different things to see what results i get.

I have a lot of Val and it grows great but i brought some more a month ago and it has sent out many runners and the new leaves are practically white and i am unsure on what i need to do different to get them nice and green. Can anyone tell me why my Val is growing like this? this is in a well established planted tank, 2 x 13W T5 10000k bulbs, JBL balls under the bigger plants.
