  1. This guy has one, keeps it in his lake out the back  And this guy too, except this one he hides in his bath
  2. financial reasons that suck! Cant afford to keep as many tanks so cutting down, unfortunately has to go.
  3. FOR SALE, everything except the plants i got given, they are free.
  4. Most hardware stores should have it, down here i can get it from Hammer Hardware, mitre10 mega, marine stores etc
  5. I used to catch bullies over 10cm about 5 years ago. i thought big like that was normal. well the river we caught them in was anyway. we caught them with worms on pins bent in a hook shape tied to cotton. but we never kept them, just caught them for fun.
  6. Reading about all these backgrounds has made me want to make another one now. off to get some poly i go
  7. Yay Its been a long wait, I hope i get a chance to get a copy and have a read too.
  8. Ive always used black cotton, I don't mind wraping it up and its prety easy to tie it. and it eventually rots away leaving the plant attached.
  9. Ive have read about Takashi's tank before, Its awesome. We would all love a small chuck of nature like that in our living room. Yes I have been meaning to put glass panels into the side of the pond, havn't added that part yet, Im still working on it. I realise its not realistic in NZ but could still be possible if/when i have the money. I'm using Archicad. I use it everyday at work.
  10. lol yea, my cad program is for buildings, not fish tanks
  11. Keeping it realistic and not trying to make an ocean or anything. This is a pool i would like to make one day when i have my own place. A room dedicated to this. all waterproofed etc. and i could even swim with my fish It would be especially for african cichlids that can hide in all the rocks and the bigger fish plenty of swimming room. Roughly 12,900 ltrs without sand and rocks. The main shape. 5m long x 3m wide x 1.5m deep And then a heap of sand and a whole lot of rocks. Now filled up, and some people added to show the depth and size
  12. yes it was very soft and I'm not sure how deep the water was.
  13. Baby cray that was found on a fishing trip
  14. Very cool, I hope to be able to go on one of these tank crawls one day. I'm thinking about moving to chch in the near future, (job related) so I may be able to tag along.
  15. Ive added a youtube link. I know they need a host, but wasnt sure if it was breeding behaviour or not. Only breeding cichlids in my tank are the yellows, i could possibly get a female peacock for my male if that would work to get the synos breeding.
  16. People who have these... I have just been watching them and got a video. ...is this teritorial behaviour? Its the first time I have seen them doing it. watch the video. Please excuse the background noise.
  17. thanks for that Stella, I thought that would be the case. I have destroyed them so I'm safe.
  18. I know but i didn't know triops weren't, i assumed they would be treated the same.
  19. Looks good, I seen this on TF and wanted something like this as well. I'm kicking myself that i sold my tropheus I will get more maybe when i have the time and money. Can't wait to see the tank finished :bounce:
  20. wow really? I didn't know that. I thought they would be just like growing sea monkeys/brine shrimp for live fry food. I will destroy them now then. Last thing i want to be doing is something illegal.
  21. Very nice, I need to make a new stand for my tank too. a straighter one this time  The Tropheus should love their new tank, How are you going to set up the tank? (rocks, plants, substrate etc)
