  1. Triops, I have them growing right now I have grown them many times before. You buy a pack that will grow about 10 max. They double in size every day for the 1st 2 weeks and they lay hundreds of eggs each over a few months in sand. When they all die off, I dry out the sand and add more water to the sand a month later and had what looked like thousands of them, most went to the fish. Ive managed to grow them to 1.5 -2". Very interesting to watch swim around. You can buy them on ebay pretty cheap and they come with everything needed to grow them.
  2. I got a pack of 10 from Mitre 10 mega for around $5, if that is close to you.
  3. lol wouldn't work for a while there
  4. I don't want to have to ruin the tank. I have been using 2 nets but not very successful. i ended up removing the tetras because they kept getting in the nets when i didn't want to catch them.. And all the removed fish have been put into my frontosa tank  the tetras school around in there just fine and seem to be too quick for the bigger cichlids.
  5. Never thought about that... ... so what fish would be good for this job, and then is easy enough to catch?
  6. Ok ok. i will take some photos tonight. I fished out as many guppy as i could yesterday as they were getting everywhere and I'm getting annoyed with them. resulting in some of the plants at the back being pulled put. Only the ambulia has grown over the top of the log. To be honest, I haven't paid much attention to this tank since I have planted it. Ive left it be in hope it will be fully grown when i actually look at it properly lol  (I'm too impatient) Ive got clay balls under just about everything but I am still failing in the lighting department because of lack of funds.
  7. Must be something else :-? because mine do it any time of the year, including now
  8. I like it, Ive been wanting to do something similar with a spare tank i have. It reminds me of when i used to go swimming in the lake or river as a kid.
  9. I play a lot of app games: doodleJump, Hungry shark, JumpO'clock, Mega jump, Sky Burger, Pocket frogs, Oddblob, BattleBears, NFS shift, Angry birds, Mini golf, CTC, Bowling, NOM, Godfinger, Tobbz. Also Line Art is an cool app for making crazy line pictures. Photo shop is handy, The EDGE radio, Battery claculator (tells you how many songs, videos, internet browsing time you have left for the current charge of you battery.
  10. :bounce: Tax not driving!
  11. Well why dont you try it and let us know if its bad for the fish or not
  12. Plenty around I lifted my 8ft with me and another just fine so i think this will be an easy lift. Poly under the tank and a load of towels and blankets around the edges. I reckon you could get the stand and tank side by side on the trailer... Maybe :-? Could make for a good road trip
  13. A 50W is what i use and it keeps at a very constant temp. Anything bigger and it just takes up too much room in the tank. 34ltrs (IIRC) is perfect for 2 dwarf puffers. I find these tanks grow plants well and fast with the white and red tube in it as well.
  14. I have found them to be very good as long as you don't over stock them.
  15. bits lol... how close are you sitting to the keyboard?
  16. If you lightly crush the shell, the snail will slide right out with a good pull. We used to play with them as kids.
  17. 20 - 30 hopefully and all the other fish will eventually go except the BN that keep the tank spotless.
  18. Yes the fish are only live food for other fish and temporary. I want a big shoal of rummy nose when i have the money
  19. I'm in no hurry for it, just waiting for some to show up. I don't want anyone to pull their tanks apart if they don't have any to spare. And i don't like to trade on TM anymore.
  20. I'm still on the look out for star grass and chain sword There is still heaps of room on the right side of the tank. And as good as that big piece of wood looks, i want to take it out to fit more plants in there :-? ..... but then i don't. I can't make up my mind
  21. wow what i mission to get all those plants in. Thanks phoenix44 My hands are all wrinkled and i also found my bristlenose have spawned AGAIN in a small hole in the back of the log. I dont know how they got the eggs in there because the male can only just fit his head in the hole. There are so many plants in the tank now, its going to look like a jungle in a few months hopefully. But there is still a little space in there for a few other plants that i need Doesn't really look like much at the moment
  22. I hope i can get my ambulia looking nice and green like that. That grass does grow slow doesn't it.
  23. Ive always hoped someone would discover something like this one day. hopefully in the future we will see something widely available to the hobby.
