Is it ok to use Co2 in my cichlid tank to grow my java ferns a bit better? Ive read that it lowers the pH a bit but not sure by how much, or if it would be to much for the fish

I love the beauty of this fish and i want some. They are my favourite of the cichlids(apart from the giraffe) Can someone help me find out where i can get some from. Any help would be greatly appreciated Only downside is i live at the bottom of the country where different cichlids are hard to come by and I don't have much of a selection.
