Heres the sump... RHS LHS pipe from overflow overflow

Tank ended up in a bit of a mess from catching fish, background painted but now the tropheus, plecos and a few yellows are gone... Not the best photos but i will get more tonight. I need help setting up the sump. I can't get the flows right. If anyone is down here at any stage and know a bit about them, I'd love for you to give a bit of advise or show me how to get it sorted.

Ive had them breed as small as 5-6cm but they can't hold that many eggs in their small mouths so not really worth it.

I found one once that had a broken wing and i just took it to DOC and they fixed it up and it survived just fine.

Yea its just coral rock you can buy in any LFS Ive changed my mined about this setup now. I'm thinking... -removing all the twisted val and growing it until a little taller and then selling it. -removing all the coral rock and putting it in the sump. -replacing substrate with new white 1-2mm gravel -removing all the ferns and selling. -yellows, plecos & tropheus are all for sale. Decor will possibly be... -big round greywacke river stones in piles with hidden pipes behind -straight val What do you think....? sound like a good idea?

the coral rock has many holes that i could push them into and they eventually root on.

I think having a huge tank with an Arapaima would be better

And good natural live food. I would put some sort of light out at night to attract moths etc. oh if only dreams could come true

But if you put them in a display tank for say a month every 6 months or similar then they would look awesome.

Their colour and size is said to be far greater than tank grown.

Then we could keep some fronts in a pond :bounce:

yea a lot of the fish will be going. To come out: -Yellows -possibly the tropheus. -frontosa will be thinned out to get the right male to female ratios -plecos -baenschi Im aiming for a full tang tank, with brislenose as the exception. In total at the moment, 73 fish in there. Tank size: 2m x 0.6 x 0.6 I was worried about adding the alto comps to the tank as the biggest male front is just over 10cm and altos are 2-3cm max however i have watched them a lot and the altos are holding their ground, Ive watched them have a go at all the fish already. I can't wait for them to get bigger. I am trialling the tropheus in there to see if i can get the feeding right. I feed spirulina flakes etc first until the tropheus are full because they are the greediest fish in the tank so they eat everything before others get a chance. I feed spirulina flakes, tropical flakes, some other high protien flake(forget the name now), salmon pellets(.5mm,1-2mm), sinking waffers, cichlid sticks, cucumber, zucchini, whiteworms, bloodword, shrimp, fish, frozen brineshrimp. the plants will hopefully take root before the fish decide to rip them out otherwise the val may come out. Im not that happy with the position of the straight val either :-? Background will be black, i already have the paint It will look better when the back is done me thinks. I still have all my other tanks. reason all fish are in one at the moment is i have just had to move house urgently and i have my things spread out all over town in friends garages etc. until i sort a place out But eventually i will end up with this tank and a big tropheus tank.

Yes I'm waiting for them to pull the val out but they have all been grown in tanks with plants and haven't had a problem with them yet. Its a cuckoo syno. they awesome wee fish. they are out all the time looking for food. Yea when ever ya get a chance let me know.
