  1. Ok, I confess. I'm a killer. My fishroom runs with a water circulation system, trickle filter, sump etc. Being the smart guy I am I decided to put an overflow in the sump, connected to the drain. For a water change all I need to do is connect a hose to the tap, run it to the sump and turn the tap on. After about 5-10 minutes I calculated I should have changed about 10-20%. Works great! One Monday not too long ago my wife complained about hearing water running and that had been liked that since Saturday.(She could have told me earlier  ). You guessed it. I forgot to turn the tap off and was 'too busy' to check all weekend. Tanks where all about 10 oC with a full dose of chlorine and a lot off dead fish. :-( This was worse than the flooding caused by a similar mistake a few years ago.

  6. If it's green hair algae (and you'll know because it looks like 'green hair' and isn't as slimy as the blue-green 'algae') try to get as much out of the tank by taking e.g. a pencil and wrapping the long hairs around it by rolling the pencil. (Hope this makes sense). Just keep removing it when it gets bad. Add some more fast growing plants to compete with it (sounds like you already have). Perhaps cut down your fertilizer (flourish excel) a little. Fwiw The best green hair algae remover I ever had was a male dwarf gourami. He would pick up the stuff and build a bubble nest with it. Every night I would remove the nest. Next day he was at it again. Took about 2 weeks and after that all those long threads of green algae were gone.

  18. What do you want me to do now? You confuse me. One moment you make valuable contributions to this site, the next moment there is a lot of sarcasm in what you write. Why? What is the problem? fwiw, and apologies to posters in this topic in advance. When I find a moment this topic will be moderated and most if not all if it removed. Same will be true for other topics in this forum and the rest of the fishroom. http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/viewtopic.php?p=39677 Cees

Is that A4 sheets or 4x6 ? I've seen 4x6 canon photopaper @ $19 for 50 sheets. It's the convenience of having printer at home that is important as well. I've looked at the Canon Pixma ip4000. That, or one of the newer ones (5000, 6000? ) is one of the models under consideration.

Thanks for all the responses. Noise, speed etc don't matter. I've seen a few Canon and Epson printers with 4 or even 6 coloyr cartridges. Like that idea. Only replace the one that is empty. Any model suggestions ?
