  1. Was just wondering.... There seems to be enough of us Apisto fans on here yet recent arrivals and not so recent arrivals seem to die out even though large numbers are brought in and they seem to have been bred successfully judging by forums I have browsed. So why are we letting the likes of Panduro's to die out?
  2. Cheers Bilbo. I will give that a go. I do have half a dozen jars of green water which i incorporate in their feeding. I also feed Microworms and am guilty of over feeding various foods but thankfully have a large population of small snails in the tank which seem to clean up leftovers . And hopefully I can get a few to saleable size, I will definitely be offering first pick to those of you have been very helpful in getting me this far.
  3. Thanks for that P44. I have stopped feeding them liquifry and have been feeding them decap b/s, bloodworm forced through a very fine sieve and baby mosquito larvae when I manage to get a raft from the bucket outside. The size of the fry ranges from approx 1cm to 2cm and at a guess I think I have about 30, but it is hard to tell in my tank as there is alot of leaf litter on the bottom and unfortunately they don't all come out at the same time. :-? Cheers. Dan.
  4. Thanks for your positive response Bilbo.
  5. Here are the pics Landlubber. First two of one of the fry i had to catch to get a decent pic and the last one is the environmet they live in. Should really have cleaned the glass! My fish don't appear to be growing at the rate of other breeders of here, namely P44's recent brood. Must be doing something wrong :-?
  6. I don't have much luck with taking photo's but will try and upload some today. What are you doing up at 3.15am Land lubber You are not a shift worker like myself?
  7. Unfortunately my female apisto died tonight . Fortunately I still have 30 odd fry and the male Apisto still doing fine.
  8. You are right there Ryan. Have been looking back on posts back to 2003 relating to Apisto's and people who seemed to be breeding different varieties seem to have died out. User name "Caserole" seemed to do well with the Apisto's but some of the varieties like the Panduro's never kicked on. Is Caserole still about, and does he or she still breed Apisto's?

  14. Wow! Such a beautiful bird! Have seen a hungry one feeding on Banksia in Hamilton once and also one in Kanuka on the Mount TeAroha fringe but are becoming rare in areas that are not frequently trapped for vermin!.
